I found you can use it in three different directions with always going the diection of hair grain. You can use the brush backwards, sideways and regular. If you use the brush backwards, again always going with the grain of hair, it combs out the tangles on the surface of the hair. Just stroke lightly on the top of hair. It gets out the tangles on the surface of the coat. If you use brush sideways it the removes tangles a little deeper into the coat. Then use brush the regular direction removing tangles yet deeper in the coat without pulling the hair as much. Chewy should suggest making one of these brushs that fits in the palm of your hand like a horse brush. It should have somekind of hand holding strap on the back of the brush to hold the brush tightly into the palm of the hand. Lastly, either the strap or brush needs to rotate so the brush is held into palm tightly but can rotate all the differ directions easily.

Pins too large, too spaced out, too firm

Size small brush does not work for us. I have a senior cat with fine, but very dense fur, a lot of undercoat, and prob standard length short hair. These brush pins are long, thicker, spaced kinda far apart. The pad the pins are on is small, curved, and very firm so there isn’t really any flex there - at least not at the pressure you’d use to brush a cat. I need a brush where the pins are finer, denser, and sitting on a pad w some flex to get down to the skin through that dense undercoat and catch the shed hair. So, not this brush at all (and unfortunately it’s one of the more expensive ones of this type). Prob ideal to use on a dog. It seems durable, it just will not work for me. If you’re needing the type of brush I did, I recommend the ‘Hartz Groomer's Best Slicker Brush for Dogs & Cats’. It’s the best I’ve found so far. Coated tips with finer and more dense pins, and it’s way cheaper than the tweezerman one.

I purchased this product to use alongside the FURminator undercoat de-shedding tool, as it can reach areas that the other tool cannot. I was pleased with the results, and both Zeus and Zara approve of it. Taking care of your dog goes beyond just feeding them; they deserve to have a healthy coat. They both turned to me and said, Papa we feel 5 lbs lighter.

HUGE for cats
