Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

DOES VECTRA HAVE TO HAVE A PRESCRIPTION FOR DOG

Answer by ChewyAug 29, 2019
This product does not require a prescription.

does this protect against deer ticks or how many different kinds of ticks and fleas does it protect against?

Answer by ChewyMar 25, 2021
This treatment is effective on all fleas and ticks. VECTRA 3D protects because of the triple-action formula of Dinotefuran, Pyriproxifen and Permethrin. These ingredients work together to kill fleas and ticks on contact and repel these dangerous parasites. Once they land on your dog, the parasites come into contact with the treated skin and hairs. The more they move on the dog to find a location to bite, the more they are exposed to the active ingredients of VECTRA 3D and the sooner they are affected. In ticks, VECTRA 3D causes first a “hot foot” reaction. The sensors in the legs of these parasites are very sensitive to permethrin and make the parasite run off the dog (hot foot effect). They are physically compelled to crawl back up the fur, away from the skin, without biting. In fleas, VECTRA 3D quickly disrupts the feeding behavior. Within 5 min after infestation and once the product has translocated, feeding is strongly reduced when compared to untreated dogs. Fleas are quickly knocked down and start falling off the animal without possible recovery, thanks to the synergy between dinotefuran and permethrin.

Is this product safe to use in a household that has cats?

Answer by ChewyMar 19, 2020

Can I use this on a pregnant dog?

Answer by ChewyMar 20, 2020
This flea and tick treatment should not be used on debilitated, aged, medicated, pregnant or nursing dogs, or dogs known to be sensitive to pesticide products without first consulting a veterinarian.

Vectra used to be my go to flea treatment for years. Not sure what changed but all 3 of my dogs and a dog I dog sit have had bad reactions to it. All were extremely itchy and one dog had a burn all the way down his back into his tail. After 10 days I had to bathe them to get it off. I hate to write negative reviews but this time was necessary.

Need easier way to apply

Vectra is the only flea treatment that has worked for our dog. Just make sure you get those 2 discs all the way together or the meds leak out the sides all over

Vectra is the only flea treatment that has worked for our dog. Just make sure you get those 2 discs all the way together or the meds leak out the sides all over your hand and dogs fur. Took me awhile to get this exactly right..also very hard to get this in a continuous line from rear to shoulder blades with long thick fur- so I just put in spots down his back after parting his fur.

That it wasn’t as effective as expected

When applying on their top line the applicator stem broke off with a minimal amount of pressure. I applied less with the second application and that one broke

When applying on their top line the applicator stem broke off with a minimal amount of pressure. I applied less with the second application and that one broke also making a messy application. And I did find attached, bloated ticks on my Labradors after the treatment before a month was up.

very good product but may leak between plastic applicator and tube

i have used this product for years on different dogs and i think it works good, but twice now i have had liquid leak between the plastic applicator tip and the tube

i have used this product for years on different dogs and i think it works good, but twice now i have had liquid leak between the plastic applicator tip and the tube of product when i am applying it to my dog and it got on my skin and my dog's fur instead of their skin. the manufacturer should redesign the product to be more robust like some other pet products that have a removable tip that pokes a hole into a heavy vinyl-type tube that can't leak.

Rx flea & tick

It always delivers on time if not early. Set up for every 6 months. Our German Shepherd uses it year round and she has few issues with ticks and none with flea

Best Ectoparasiticide for pets in the world!

This product not only prevents biting by ectoparasites (fleas, ticks, mosquitoes), it also KILLS the bug, meaning those bugs cannot bite another animal or person

This product not only prevents biting by ectoparasites (fleas, ticks, mosquitoes), it also KILLS the bug, meaning those bugs cannot bite another animal or person. Because it is applied to the outside of the pet, it doesn’t poison the pet from the inside as the oral paraciticides do. All my family and friends use Vectra 3D.

Leaky

As another poster commented, the Vectra 3D from Chewy leaks. I’ve never encountered this problem with the same product from my vet, and I’m horrified to find it

As another poster commented, the Vectra 3D from Chewy leaks. I’ve never encountered this problem with the same product from my vet, and I’m horrified to find it has happened with the box I purchased from Chewy. Hopefully I don’t experience a nasty reaction from having pesticide all over my fingers.
