About Vetoquinol Pro-Pectalin

Help Firm Up Stool Fast

The combination of stool-firming ingredients in Pro-Pectalin can be used at the first sign of a loose stool.

Pro-Pectalin is:

  • Formulated with pets in mind: No guessing which ingredients are pet-safe.
  • An all-in-one product: Makes administration easy and accurate.
  • A combined approach: Probiotics alone may take weeks to re-establish the microflora balance, so Pro-Pectalin includes ingredients that bind to bacterial waste and firm stools, as well as probiotics.

An All-in-One Remedy for Loose Stools

Formulated to help maintain gut microbial balance and intestinal health, Pro-Pectalin supports normal digestive function, fighting loose stools caused by:

  • Eating table scraps
  • Stress
  • Dietary changes
  • Garbage gut
  • Antibiotics

Easy to Use

Comes in an oral paste or chewable tablet form for easy administration.

Fast Acting

Starts working within 24-48 hours, for much faster relief than probiotics alone.

2 Tasty Flavors

Choose from artificial beef-flavored chewable tablets or chicken-flavored oral paste.

3 Trusted Ingredients

Made with intestine-soothing kaolin, pectin to absorb water and firm stool, and the probiotic Enterococcus faecium.

Questions & Answers

can propectalin gel be given daily long term?

Answer by ChewyMar 07, 2022
There are ingredients in Pro-Pectalin that slows the gut and helps to pull water from the colon so the stool can become more solid. Vets have put pets on Pro-Pectalin long term under unique circumstances. There is a possibility that a pet that is getting Pro-pectalin daily and for long term use, can become constipated. While using it, stools should be monitored daily.

Does anyone split these in half and if so how are you doing that? They are too large for the pill splitter and seem to hard to break by hand or I am kind of weak.

Answer by ChewyJul 14, 2018
This pill is intended to be fed whole or crumbled and sprinkled over food. This can be safely accomplished with a pill crusher or mortar and pestle.

How quick does pro-pectalin take to start relieving the diarrhea?

Answer by ChewyDec 06, 2018
The amount of time would vary depending on what's causing it. Pro-Pectalin alone may not be enough to stop it depending on the cause. A good rule of thumb is to take the pet to the veterinarian if there is no improvement in 24-48 hours. If the pet is very small, a puppy or kitten, we recommend taking them to the veterinarian right away.

Is Pro-Pectalin more like a supplement or medication? Is it safe to give it to my dog daily?

Answer by ChewyDec 02, 2019
This supplement is safe for daily use.

Brookie had the runs for months... I thought it was giardia since I was up the mtns with my other dog, but it was not. At first I used the syringe the vet gave me and then I switched to the pills which I make into powder and mix with her food. Solid poodles from now on and she is happy. That's what we call a poo movement, if a pee is a peedle a poo is a poodle... it matches the breeds intelligence.lol I recommend this products when things get a bit poodly... definitely buy it again !

My adopted kitten came with all sorts of fun GI parasites along with a viral and secondary bacterial infection. Needless to say, it has been a journey getting him healthy while helping him develop good gut flora and solid poops. It has been a long runny journey, but this worked within 12 hours. With his small size (5-6 lbs), I only give 1/4 tab every 12 hours, but he has actual discernible logs now instead of straight mush. Hopefully I can ween him off of these and be done with de-worming, but if he has the runs again, at least I have these ready to go!

After fighting intermittent diarrhea in my dog this product seems to help resolve his stomach (digestive) issues the BEST! A cause for his diarrhea has not been determined even after months of tests and I tried this product as sort of a last hope effort! All I can say is "The work" stop his frequent episodes of liquid poops, uncontrolled by any other product, prescription or over the counter! And no side effect of constipation! I will NOT be without this amazing product!

I’ve used this product for years. Great for Travel & for having at home. It’s effective in firming up stools & decreasing diarrhea, unless there’s a more severe issue. My dogs eat them whole, like a treat, much less messy than a liquid. However, the tablets are fairly easy to crush & mix with water &/or a little moist food, which works for my cat. Some cats might eat them without that. Each tablet is approx 1 tsp crushed. Would be nice if Vetoquinol made a powder version, though.

Easier to administer than the paste

My dog hates the paste and wouldn’t lick it no matter what I mix it with, so i decided to try a different form. On the plus side, it’s much easier to make her swallow

My dog hates the paste and wouldn’t lick it no matter what I mix it with, so i decided to try a different form. On the plus side, it’s much easier to make her swallow the pill. The downside is it doesn’t work as well as the paste, and takes much longer for the stool to firm up (hence only 4 stars).

One of our goldens has IBD and this is worth its weight in gold. When he starts getting soft stools, giving this to him a couple days helps firm him right up. We buy the largest container to ensure we have it on hand. We also have used it for our other golden and cats. Our Vet originally recommended it, so it's Vet approved as well.

Recommended this to one of my friends bc her dog gets diarrhea often & OTC probiotics don't always help. She said these worked fast. She would give her dog one as soon as symptoms started showing & after 24 hrs of rice/pumpkin/chicken broth, her dog would be back on track again. I'm glad it worked for her.

POOR SHIPPING PACKAGEING.

This was NOT packed well. You can not put around container the tablets that break in an oversized box without ANY packing material to keep container from rolling

It is nice and smelly!

Cody who is ill, has become very picky and wasn’t taking the paste (which is very expensive compared to the tabs). He likes the tabs. I just wish they were smaller
