Increase feeding intake by 1/2 cup for every 20 lbs over 100 lbs.
Glucosamine and Chondroitin are unique ingredients that work together to support joint health. This formula can be fed to any adult dog, and is beneficial for active and performance dogs, as well as larger breeds that may be susceptible to joint issues later in life. It is generally recommended to start feeding large breeds a glucosamine and chondroitin fortified food early in life (between 1 and 2 years) and continue feeding long term for most effective results.

Where can I find the Lot Code and Best By date on a bag of Victor?
The Lot Code Number and Best By Date can be found on the back side of the bag (New Poly Packaging) above the VICTOR Logo near the top or (Older Paper Packaging) near the bottom seal below the labeling. The Best By Date is one year from the date the product was packaged for what should still be suitable to be fed up to that date as a guideline. Provided the product has been in favorable conditions will determine how suitable for consumption it should be. Keeping the product from being exposed to excessive heat for any amount of time is the best way to maintain the expected shelf life of one year.

Last bag I got my dog wouldn’t eat and food smelled terrible
When I opened this last bag of Victor dog food, my dog wouldn’t go near it. The food had an awful smell. I tried to get her to eat it for four days, even mixing it with ground beef and rice. I felt something was wrong and order a whole different brand of food: Purina One plus joint mobility, right away since she was loosing energy and not eating. I know not to change foods so fast but didn’t have a choice. Luckily the Purina food came quickly from Chewy. I fed her ground beef and rice for a week and transitioned her to the Purina food. We threw the Victor dog food away since she wasn’t eating it and didn’t seem to be feeling well. We are now about a month into the new food and she is doing much better. It wasn’t until a couple days ago I found out Victor had a recall and this food was one of them. So glad I didn’t make my dog eat the last bag and switched her off it right away.

Dogfood had a problem at factory and made dogs sick
I'm pretty upset with Victor dogfood. My dogs got sick with a new bag of food and of course Chewy offered to send me another bag but my husband couldn't wait and had to drive an hour each way to buy a new bag of food. I called Victor and they admitted that they had a very hot summer and the chicken fat oxidized in their food and a lot of dogs got sick from that lot. WOW. I think they should have recalled it before my dogs got sick all over our white carpet. When I called the company they were not very apologetic and told me to contact Chewy for a refund. Chewy is great but not sure I can trust Victor. Why wouldn't they recall this and contact all the customers who bought this lot? You would assume you could figure out who purchased during a time period.

Was great until it wasn’t…
Similar to others, I’ve been feeding Victor Purpose Performance for years with zero issues and would have recommended it before.
We keep a little extra food on hand, so recently opened a bag that shipped at the end of August. Both of my dogs will not eat it. Tried everything to get them to, thinking they were just being picky, but they know better that something is not right. Talked to the vet and they said something is probably off with the formula in that bag. So, opened the other bag and they didn’t want anything to do with that one either. Now reading the many reviews with the same issue leads me to believe they have changed their formula and for the worse.
Had to pick up a different brand today as my dogs were starving and I won’t be buying Victor anymore.

2 bad 40 lb bags in one month!
Just as others have reported, something is very wrong with this formula! The food has a strange smell and my Danes got very sick after eating it. I don’t know if you are familiar with Great Dane vomit and diarrhea, but both are like cleaning up a gallon of the former and the latter. Not fun! We had to throw out the food and a huge area rug that is now ruined. The picture included is just one of many soilings I have cleaned up over the past 12 hours! Will be calling chewy and Victor first thing Monday morning for compensation, and I am done with this brand of dog food!

2nd bag from different vendors
We’ve been using Performance for years no issues. We have 2 dobermans and go through a 40lb bag in 2 wks. Last bag smelled very pungent almost a chemical smell. The dogs would not touch it. Thought maybe got hot in storage and ruined. Ordered several different Victor formulas in 5 lb bags to assess tolerance (dobies can be sensitive to skin issue) added in one 5 lb of performance since new they did well with. The 5 lb bag smelled same as the 40lb bag and they wouldnt eat it. I emailed Victor through site rep called me back said they had jo recalls on Performance and even though i coupd see sell by date: 7/23/24 the lot # was right on crease of seal and could not make it out. Long story short said nothing could do without batch/lot #. So anyways tossing 45lbs in total of food cuz furbabies wont touch it. Rest of Victor products seem to be fine. Just something off with Performance batches.

Was great for 4 years, now every other bag is a major problem
Same experience as others here- no issues for years and two bad bags in last two months. This was an excellent food for our Pudelpointer ( a high output breed of versatile gun dog, not a poodle cross) for over 4 years. 2 of the last 3 bags he has, I assume wisely, refused to eat. This evening we came home from a day of duck hunting and he wouldn't touch his kibble. Offered kibble from last bag and he was all over it. Blended both kibbles and he picked around the new. This dog doesn't leave kibble in the bowl.
No alarming smells to my nose but the last bag and new bag's smells are slightly different.
Something is very wrong with the recent batch(es) of food and it should not be shipping, full stop. First calls on Monday will be to Chewy and Victor. Meantime, do not buy this food.

My dog won’t eat it
I purchased this food for my hunting that typically eats everything. When I opened the bag I noticed it had a weird smell. My dog wouldn’t touch it, even after a day of hunting. He wouldn’t even eat his old food out of the same bowl, but once I washed the bowl, he ate all of his old food. Something is definitely not right with this food.

Do not buy
It's salmonella. That's why everyone is having issues. There is a notice for Viktor currently. I didn't read the reviews and now all 4 of my dogs are sick because they don't refuse food. They will eat everything and now they are all very sick. There's a reason the smart dogs aren't eating it.

Dogs stopped eating
We had been running the dogs on this feed for a couple years until recently. Thought the dogs maybe had lost there appetite for a couple days as I noticed they had stopped eating this food. Tried everything, wetting it, adding rice, etc. they still wouldn’t eat it. Finally got a different brand of dog food to see if it made a difference. Keep in mind our lab is the kind of eater where the food disappears in about 5 seconds. He inhales it. Switched to the different brand and immediately inhaled it.
I think the Victor was causing gastrointestinal issues too. Had dogs vomiting and having diarrhea which doesn’t normally happen at all. All these symptoms went away immediately upon switching.
Ended up having to throw out almost 2 full bags of that Victor food. Would not buy this food again. If I could give negative stars I would

Something has changed!
I've been feeding this food for 3-4 years and my dogs have always liked it and looked great while on it. In August I received a bag and I immediately noticed the color was darker and it had a chemical smell (I originally thought it was the storage bin I keep the food in). My dogs ate it, but only kind of picked through half heartedly. This month I got a new bag and the small was clearly from the food and my dogs wouldn't touch it! I had to throw a full 40lb bag away and abruptly change their food (which I did not like having to do). I don't know what's going on, but until this gets resolved, Victor has lost this pittie family.
