I have been using Wellness for a long time, GREAT brand of food, but the chicken recipe. Just recently had to deal with my dog being allergic to Chicken. Went with this recipe because it is a protein he likely doesn't have an allergy to, and he doesn't, and he LOVES IT, but it's very stinky. Like very stinky. But Chewy was fantastic with delivery and everything they always do!
I wanted to slowly change from a dog food/kibble that had no chicken in it. I also changed my dog treats for the same reason as they seemed to upset his tummy. I am now trying freeze-dried beef liver treats. SO good for training and no tummy upsets so far.
We are in the process of switching over from Blue Buffalo Red Meat to this (still on our first bag). From what I can tell the gas and stomach upset has mostly if not completely been resolved.
Our dog has some odd food sensitivities. I did some research on dog food ingredients a while back for my first three dogs. So when this fourth one had some different issues, I returned to a trusted brand and went with this particular food to try to avoid and include certain main ingredients. So far so good!
I was hesitant to try a fish ingredient dog food. I mean cats it eat fish. But Lulu (basset hound) likes it. And I have hopes it will help with her allergies.
It seems good quality but the smell is very fishy. My dog does not like it. I mix it with his puppy food but he picks them out and tosses them off his plate. My whole house smells like fish after I feed him.
I have been feeding this to my soft-coated wheaten terrier since we rescued her over 2 years ago, and she seems to like it. We did have to switch from the chicken to the whitefish flavor. She was itching with the chicken, turns out she’s allergic. Let me tell you, it’s hard to find dog things with no chicken byproducts. But she loves the whitefish flavor even more. I did as much research as I could before buying this brand because I wanted to make sure I got good quality dog food as my dog before died of cancer. I think it has good ingredients and it seems to show through my dog as well. Now I want to add, that I do add things into dry kibble. I hydrate it with water, add pumpkin powder, freeze dried beef liver, and freeze dried Baltic sprat. And sometimes add beef bone broth when I have some. Anywho, my girl has had perfect poops, he coat has gotten so much softer and shinier since we’ve rescued her, and her weight is perfect. Yes this food is on the pricier side but I think it’s worth it.
Our dogs absolutely love this food, and after doing some research on how important taurine is in their diet, I have the upmost confidence that they’re getting a good high-quality food.
Our dog just didn't seem interested in it. She'd eventually eat it but not with gusto.
Wellness keeps my furry little monster healthy. At times he will refuse to eat, but he is like that with all foods. I just add a little old fashion oats or parmesan cheese and he eats it up. My only complaint is that the bag looked like it met a box cutter and some of the kibble spilled out.
