Transition Instructions

The best way to transition your pet onto a new food is to gradually introduce the food by mixing it with the old diet (starting by mixing 90% old with 10% new and increase new by 10% each day until the bowl is full of only Wellness). Mixing the food will allow your pet to acclimate to the new taste and not overindulge on the new food.

When food transition is not an option, there are a few ways to ensure a good transition:

Feed multiple, smaller volume meals. This will decrease the likelihood of over-consumption and provide for a more consistent, firm stool. Add clean warm water to the food to help soften it. Add a digestive aid such a boiled brown rice or sugar-free canned pumpkin.

Great for mixing with wet food

    By on

It seems all the good dry cat foods available have very small kibble size, which is unfortunate because they often fall out of my cat's mouth and he leaves them around his bowl. I found a solution to this problem. I give my cat a portion of Wellness wet food twice a day as his main food, so I just started mixing the dry in with his wet. He loves it, it's easier for him to eat it, there's no kibble mess, and it makes the wet food go farther. We can still leave a bowl of dry out for him if we're gone overnight since he's used to it, but otherwise he has the benefits of meal times and wet food with some added crunchy texture. Give it a try!

    Nutritious and delicious

    By on

We adopted an 8 month old female that was very skinny. She has blossomed into a sleek well muscled energetic cat. The package feeding guidelines seem to be very accurate. Her coat is very soft and shinny. Seems to have been a very good choice for this sweet cat.

Got stuck in my cat’s mouth

    By on

My cats liked this food, but I think they recently changed either the kibble size or shape. As a result, my one cat would occasionally get kibbles lodged in the roof of his mouth! He would paw at his mouth and they would eventually come out, but once or twice we had to help him. Maybe he has deep folds on the roof of his mouth or something, but I’ve never had that happen with any other food.

    not easy on the teeth

    By on

My cat loves the smell of this food and tries to eat it. The pieces are small and very hard. He wasn't able to eat the food because it seemed like the food would fall out of his mouth while he was trying to chew. Or he spit it out because it was so hard.

Perfect kibble size but cat didn't care for it.

    By on

I purchased this for 2 reasons...that it would be good for my 15 year old cat and that the kibble was small - since my cat is missing a number of teeth. Well kibble was perfect size but my cat is not interested in the food at all. Glad I just bought the small bag. The rest will go to a local shelter

Transitioned to Wellness Complete Health Grain Free

    By on

I transitioned my kittens onto this adult dry food. they like it and so far no issues with diarrhea or vomiting. My kittens have been very sensitive to food changes but this worked well.

    Cat loves it

    By on

My cat loves this food. I've noticed he has been having fewer hairballs. He didn't love the salmon version of this same food, but this kind he gobbles up.

Just as good as Core line

    By on Top 500 Contributor

I usually buy the Wellness core indoor cat food but wanted to try something different. With Simba having so many needs Wellness always comes through. I like that this is completely fish free, grain free, and has a good amount of protein. If you're looking for a cheaper option than this is it. There's not a significant difference between them. I'll keep alternating this with the old food as Simba likes both. The ingredients are very good for the lower price point as well.

    New favorite.

My girls really enjoyed this food. It went a lot quicker than I thought it would. They turned into little piggies.
