Transition Instructions

The best way to transition your pet onto a new food is to gradually introduce the food by mixing it with the old diet (starting by mixing 90% old with 10% new and increase new by 10% each day until the bowl is full of only Wellness). Mixing the food will allow your pet to acclimate to the new taste and not overindulge on the new food.

When food transition is not an option, there are a few ways to ensure a good transition:

Feed multiple, smaller volume meals. This will decrease the likelihood of over-consumption and provide for a more consistent, firm stool. Add clean warm water to the food to help soften it. Add a digestive aid such a boiled brown rice or sugar-free canned pumpkin.

It really makes my dog shed weight.

    By on

My dog has always been more on the chubby side. On top of that, he gained about 2 pounds during quaratine. He is a cross between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Bichon Frise, which means he should not be more than 20 pounds. When his weight hits 25 pounds, I stared to be worried. So, I gave a shot and it worked. He has been on this kibble for 3 months and lost 1.4 pounds. I mix this with his regular dry food to make myself feel less guilty for forcing him lose weight. Honestly, he doesn't go crazy for this but eats them all at least.

    No furbaby complaints

She has not shunned away from it as of yet. I decided on it for nutritional reasons, but I would have appreciated more freeze dried turkey in it.

    Finally another option

    By on

I bought this food so that my dogs could have an alternative kibble. This seems to mostly contain the ingredients that is in my dogs current kibble. It took a couple of days but they actually ate this food. I've tried several brands and now I am so happy to have another go to kibble for them. My only complaint is that I wish there were more of the freeze dried turkey in the package. Luckily, the kibble was good enough on its own. Glad the meal booster is available if I feel the need to add more freeze-dried portions.

I accidentally purchased this, thinking its wellness core rawrev puppies. Mine is almost a year, so this actually worked out great. It was a great transition from the puppy kibble. Absolutely loved it. Right now, I am mixing this w another kibble (Which we have had forever, because she doesnt like it and I still try to sneak a five or ten kibble per meal so I dont waste it) Hazel still manages to pick out this kibble from the other and only eats this one!!

    He LOVES it!

    By on

Our spoiled little boy has eaten Freshpet Roasted Meals for several years & loved it. The problem - he didn't CHEW it, just swallowed it whole as fast as possible. Some friends who also happen to groom, board & daycare our boy recommended this food to us. What a difference! He takes his time to chew & enjoy. There has also been a HUGE difference in his energy/activity level, as well as his potty habits. So very pleased with this food and can highly recommend it.

Not for dogs with long beards/hair

    By on

We have 3 mini Schnauzers and, while I have been happy with the food and how our dogs do on it, the freeze dried chicken is what I believe causes unsightly clumps of nearly black yuck in their beards. It does not wash out. Maybe it would if I washed their beards after every feeding, but let's be realistic, and also consider that one should not need to even partially groom their dogs every time they eat. Again, they have done well on the food, I am just tired of snipping away the very thing the breed is named after. Switching to Dr. Tim's to see how they like it and see if that alleviates the problem.

    My picky eater loved it

    By on

My female shepherd, who has become more particular about her food in the last year, really ate this up! I was having to add things to her food to get her to eat with the previous dog food she was on, but not this stuff.

    My dogs love it

I have my German wiredhair pointer and mini schnauzer on this food. They both do very well on it and love it. I do not have any issue with it matting either one of their beards.
