Questions & Answers

8 Customer Questions

Where is the salmon sourced from, and is it sustainable?
Answer by ChewyJul 01, 2021
The fish is 100% wild caught, USA sourced and processed and sustainably caught. They buy all of their fish, including salmon, cod and tuna from their seafood supplier in Boston, Massachusetts Red’s Best Seafood who is a human food industry seafood supplier.

Are these from farmed salmon?
Answer by ChewyMay 05, 2018
These treats are made from 100% Pure Wild Alaskan Salmon.

Is the salmon raw or cooked when freeze dried?
Answer by ChewyMay 30, 2022
First, Whole Life hand-cuts skinless, boneless fillets into cubes. They then flash freeze and freeze dry them to lock in nutrients and concentrate natural flavors.

Do these have to be refrigerated after opening?
Answer by ChewyNov 11, 2021
These treats do not require refrigeration. Moisture control is the single most critical factor when storing freeze-dried treats. They must be stored in a cool, dry place and in an air-tight container such as plastic resealable bags or an air-tight jar. This can keep the treats good up to 1 year after.

Great

Our picky eater hasn’t liked any treats in the past, she recently got a hold of a dehydrated treat from my sisters dog and went a little bananas for it so I tried this simple salmon only freeze dried treat. She gets very excited now when she sees the bag and she hasn’t had any tummy problems yet that I’ve identified. It’s a win for our cat!

Wow! He loves it!

Have trouble finding a cat food he likes and doesn’t get sick on and lose it. This salmon treat I crumble up and mix with his food and in small portions he licks the dish clean! Will be buying more of this one.

One cat loves them

I purchased these treats because they aren't full of additives, just meat. The only drawback is that the meat chunks are too big for him to eat, so I have to break them up. When you break them up, they tend to crumble, so a bit messy. I will continue to buy them because they are much healthier than most treats.

Cats love them!

This is a great product. The salmon chunks are solid and a bit large (I break them apart) and all the cats love them. Unlike many of the freeze dried snacks these remain in nice pieces and don't fall apart!

A treat my cat will eat!

My picky eater is usually not very interested in treats, but he scarfs down these salmon treats. I rehydrate 2-3 of them with a tiny bit of water in a bowl. I haven't tried giving them dry yet.

She LOVES them

My babe gets freeze dried treats twice a day and gets tired/sick of crumbly or too-hard freeze dried snacks and these babies are simply perfect. She loves them constantly.

WONDERFUL!

My kitty was just diagnosed with diabetes, so he needs treats without carbs/sugar. I was unsure whether he'd like this or not, and... HE LOVES IT! Definitely a flavor he savors with the crunch he loves.

Very disappointed customer!

To start with, you have to give some kind of review rather than a zero, because that would be my review of this product anymore. I have asked more than once what happened to the tuna flavor? Never get a response. My cat used to love them, but I agree with so many other customers, the quality is not at all what it used to be,it has gotten really poor. I’ve always bought many bags at a time, and even given as gifts, but the last several bags I’ve bought there was so much waste in them. Very hard and stringy pieces, the skin or something makes them impossible to even cut up to try to make it safe for them to eat. I believe it is a choking hazard to give it to my cats.I have gone from the extremely liking and satisfied customer to zero satisfied with this product. I will not buy anymore. and like I said, I can’t even find out why they have discontinued the tuna flavor, from Chewy or the manufacturer, which has me believing there are issues with the product. There obviously is a problem with this product, and there is very poor P.R. along with it.

She likes it

I have the 2.5 oz bag. So I was worried these would be too hard for my cat and she could choke. However, they actually break apart very easily as you can see in one of the pictures I attached. Almost too easy because it leaves crumbs on my carpet, and since it’s fish, I have to vacuum it up quickly. I’ll make sure to give it to her on hard floors. She put it in her mouth and kept biting and spitting it onto the floor until it was small enough to eat. I’ve only given it to her while monitoring. Anyways, I tried finding small pieces but I couldn’t really find any without putting my entire hand at the bottom of the bag. With a small knife, I can imagine these would be easy to cut. Images of the inside of the bag are minus three treats. I don’t give her treats everyday so I’m not too worried about the price since I’ll probably give her one bag a month.
