Can this product get rid of ear mites?

Answer by ChewyMar 18, 2025
It’s not recommended to apply diatomaceous earth (DE) in your cat's ears. While DE can be used topically to help with external parasites like fleas, it can be irritating to sensitive areas like the ears, especially if the powder gets into the inner ear or ear canal. DE is very fine and can cause dryness, discomfort, or even damage if it gets into sensitive areas. If you’re trying to treat your cat’s ears for mites or other issues, it's better to use a product specifically designed for ear care. There are ear-cleaning solutions and treatments that are safe for cats and can help with ear mites or other ear problems. If you’re uncertain or your cat is having ear issues, consulting with a vet would be a good idea to ensure the best treatment option for their ears.

I have a dog in another country where they cannot be treated for heartworm pharmaceuticals. After research I found this product and sent it there. I am so happy it made him healthy! He want from a dismal state, wasting away to healthy. He was a stray street dog and we rescued him. Spent several hundreds of dollars to rehab him to find out he had heart worm the tests didn't first discover. We're so glad this saved him.

Disappointed

I had gotten one of these collars and the same brand for one of my cats. It worked for my cat. However for my husky Iris it didn’t do anything.

I’ve been dusting my dogs weekly with this DE for fleas and it has seemed to help and love that this one is food grade. This container will last a long time, a little

Fine "dust-like" product to add to food or use externally on sidewalk/porch

Looking to sprinkle in areas of yard where my dogs lay for some ants plus this is good for internal parasites as well.

It’s always upsetting when people write reviews that have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about. I almost didn’t buy this based on some of the negative reviews-and if I hadn’t, I would’ve put my boy through antibiotics and also sort of awful stuff. Diatomaceous earth has been a natural treatment for parasites for decades. Go ahead and sit with that of course do your research but the pharmaceutical industry wouldn’t make money if we were all using natural remedies. They’re safe and effective in a lot of cases. This is one.
