    Safflower Bird Seed

    By on

I buy safflower seed for cardinals and finches, and to keep squirrels and blackbirds out of my feeders. I bought this product in 20 pound bags and went through it quickly. The birds liked it. It's not perfectly clean. Once in awhile I find a stick or different variety seed mixed in. The product is "made in U.S.A", and I don't know if that means it's grown here or just packaged here, but it's good enough for the birds.

    Safflower Seed

    By on

I have not ordered this type of seed before, but a friend of mine has hundreds of songbirds who flock to her safflower feeders. I have always fed black oil sunflower seed, but the birds never sing, even though they love the seed. Unfortunately, the blasted squirrels, despite raising the pole so high that I have to use a ladder to fill the feeder, and using a large baffle on the pole and an aluminum cone with nails driven through it to keep them from knocking the top off the feeder, still manage to raid and plunder the feeder. I guess there's no way to outsmart squirrels, but hooray, hooray, they don't like safflower seed, so even though the seed is very expensive, only the birds eat it, and I have not ordered this type of seed before, but a friend of mine has hundreds of songbirds who flock to her safflower feeders. Best safflower seed

    By on

I have been getting safflower seed from a big box store for years. They haven’t had any recently so I tried Chewy. This is the best looking seed I have seen. The birds love it.
