Hi couple of weeks ago I sent out my dog’s test but I didn’t save the website information I think it was wisdom panel I bought it from Chewy, my question is do I get the results from Email or regular mail because I don’t know where to look. Thank you

Answer by Sam4Aug 15, 2025
Wisdom Panel emails you when your results are in, usually 2-3 weeks after you mail the sample

I would like to know exactly what my mixed breed puppy is down to percentages, will this test good be me a breakdown of all his breeds?

Answer by ChewyMar 10, 2021
This Wisdom Panel Essential test includes breed detection down to 1%.

I have four dogs in one house. Does this test require the dog being tested drink from a separate water bowl than the rest of the dogs? And if so, for how long will I need to keep her separate from drinking after them to make sure her sample isn’t contaminated?

Answer by ChewyAug 02, 2020
We recommend waiting at least an hour after the pup has eaten, shared a water bowl, or shared a toy with another dog before swabbing, in order to ensure that the sample is not contaminated. Additionally, we advise separating the dogs during this time.

Can I test two dogs with one DNA test purchase or do I need to buy two test kits?

Answer by ChewyAug 18, 2021
The two swabs included are intended to be used for one dog only. Wisdom Panel would like to have both swabs in case there is not enough DNA material on one swab for them to test.

Accurate results!

I adopted a puppy through the English Springer Spaniel Rescue. He’s a very large blue roan and it was reported that he was a purebred, but I couldn’t help but wonder

I adopted a puppy through the English Springer Spaniel Rescue. He’s a very large blue roan and it was reported that he was a purebred, but I couldn’t help but wonder. Even his vet was convinced that he was mixed with something else. His results came back that he is 100% springer spaniel. I did not upload any photos or provide any information about him prior to receiving my results. This leads me to believe they are accurate!

This test is quick and accurate

The Wisdom DNA test was quick and easy. I received Mary Jane's results within 2 weeks of mailing the test back, and I agree with the results. I have used Ancestry

The Wisdom DNA test was quick and easy. I received Mary Jane's results within 2 weeks of mailing the test back, and I agree with the results. I have used Ancestry for another pet, and those results were not accurate. I recommend the Wisdom Panel Essential Breed Identification DNA test. I will be purchasing another Widson test for my boy Finnegan.

Not sure it's accurate

Met another almost-identical-hound-mutt from same shelter adopted during same time period and we both did Wisdom Panel and had 1/3 overlap in breed. Not sure that

Met another almost-identical-hound-mutt from same shelter adopted during same time period and we both did Wisdom Panel and had 1/3 overlap in breed. Not sure that makes any sense. Mine did show a sibling relationship with a third identical-hound mutt pupp nearby...so hard to believe the Wisdom Panel when it didn't connect mine to the third pupp (the one I met) via full breed combo and sibling relationship. Zero "relative" connection made.

Disappointing

I've always been curious due to how unique my dog's coloring is, and I finally caved and purchased the most inexpensive, on sale test, which was still quite costly

I've always been curious due to how unique my dog's coloring is, and I finally caved and purchased the most inexpensive, on sale test, which was still quite costly. The results were all over the place. He looks like a Lab/Australian Shepard, but the breeds listed (28) literally ranged from Chihuahua to Mastiff. As with other reviews, the max % was 11%, with most in the 2% range. I'm not saying it's inaccurate, but I'm not saying it's legit either. The number of attempts to upsell, and then requests to put my dogs photo on leads me to think if I did put his photo on, the results may have been different. It felt like a stab in the dark to cover all basis. My curiosity got the best of me, and I went from calling him a mutt to spending 85 bucks confirming he is a mutt.

Great choice.

I love having this to see what exactly my dog, Kane, is made of. It is a great test with very accurate results. I recommend one for everyone that is curious about

The Breed

Got an answer on what breed my dog is but the rest is pretty much pointless. it lets you know traits about your animal that you can see just by looking at them

I like knowing the breeds; it is helpful know general personality traits of the bread when assessing behaviors and approaching training. The first time we used this product was to identify the breeds in an adopted "lab/GSD mix" . We were concerned that he was fearful and would sometimes try to nip guests as they were leaving. Thinking he was GSD had us nervous that he might become aggressive. The test revealed that he is mostly Cattle Dog! Knowing that he is actually mostly Cattle Dog helped me understand the "nipping" was not "aggressive" but rather his way of "herding" the guests on their way. Knowing this helped me understand the "why" of the behavior and build new routines to curb the "herding" instinct. Then recently, used a 2nd test for an adopted "lab-mix". While he does look like a tall, slender version of a black lab, some features just didn't seem "lab". He has a curved whip tail and slightly longer snout and slightly floppier ears... thought maybe the results would come back with some Pointer or Weimaraner. But no - he came back mostly Poodle, Golden Retriever, a touch of GSD and a little Lab and then a whole bunch of miscellaneous. He is all black, with short sleek hair, and not a curl on his body. Would never have guessed that he is essentially a Goldendoodle! Now that the breeds are identified, I can see some of the traits, but it is still a bit baffling.

Disappointed BIG TIME!! Won't activate!!

We were really excited to try this to finally settle the debate on what our pup is that we adopted from an aussie rescue (he is definitely a mix). Sadly it won't

The most interesting thing about his DNA was what turned out to be the last species I would have known him to be. We thought he had been part Yorkie but turned out he had no Yorkie in him just Chihuahua and Bishon Frise. Still totally love him even though he had no Yorkie in him.
