Our trainer recommended this feeder. I got the larger size because our puppy will soon be a large dog. Although the capacity in the base is sufficient to hold a meal, getting that volume of food into the tiny hole at the top of the feeder is more time consuming than I’d like. I’d like a slow feeder that doesn’t entail slow administration on my part too. I wish I hadn’t bought this. I’m not a fan.

I recommend to get the lick mat that goes with this brand because the powder can be a little messy- but the lick mat has a bowl in the center where you mix it up before you spread it around. My lab mix loved the taste and it kept her busy for a while! Perfect for a distraction during bath time or just a fun treat.

We have used this product as a treat, mixing it with the slow feeder was a success in a treat for both of my large dogs, the slow feeder for my pup who needed it and also used it in a puzzle. I have not used it as a food topper, but I’m pretty sure it would be successful. That way as well. Both dogs were really happy with it as soon as I pull it out, they come sit patiently.

I mix with a little water and spread over their lick mats and it is perfect for crate time post walk wind down or bath distractions. The powder format is fantastic for ease of storage and prepping with no mess or waste. One scoop goes a long way. Highly recommend if your pup loves flavor and you love convenience.
