My dog henri loves these because I usually will roast a squash or sweet potatoes and smush it into the mat and spread it out and freeze it for a snack for him later he enjoys the activity of eating he is a fast eater usually but this has to slow him down a little It still quick for him to eat it all because he gets other frozen trays similar to this like when I freeze mushy food into his kongs Dogs really love the mental stimulation from this kind of toy and love the snacks Very good way to give my dog some fun times and get some more vegetables in his diet would def recommend this product
Very nice quality! Plenty big enough for my small breed boys, and I would imagine big enough for larger breeds too. Very glad they will not slide around while in use. I'm hoping mine will relieve some storm related anxiety by distracting my Yorkie mix a bit. I have not had a chance to test this yet, but I'm sure I will very soon. And if not, I'm sure he will enjoy them anyway. Very glad to have them on hand either way. I have not seen nicer ones in my local pet stores.
I've tried a variety of things to keep my dogs occupied while I clean (one dog hates all things cleaning brooms, vacuums, etc). This does the trick! The smooth backing sticks to my tile floors as they lick away. Added bonus is you can use this as a way to provide diet supplements (pumpkin, greek yogurt, etc). Taking off one star because they're a bit tricky to get clean.
We have four 8 month old pups in our house who are with us for a board-and-train program, and we use these every training session! One kiddo comes out for training, the other three get their lick mats to keep them busy. We like to add fruits and veggies over the top of whatever sticky treat we're using (pureed tuna, canned dog food, or water down PB are big faves) and pop them in the freezer to make them last longer. These licky mats are durable and HUGE. Absolute must buy in my opinion.
Great deal on two lick mats. I already had one from another brand so I got these so I could pre freeze a few at once to have over the week. I liked that I could get two more for less than I paid for one from the other brand, though that one is great quality too. Will see if these hold up as well. So far so good.
I hang one in the bathtub for baths. They go so much quicker because they are licking instead of trying to escape. They are heavy enough that they aren't moving around. They can hold a good amount of peanut butter.
This is a great accessory for bath time. I put some peanut butter on it and have it sitting on the steps of the deck. The dog LOVES to lick it and doesn't even pay any attention to me as I bath him (it was a small struggle before). But even though they are dishwasher safe they are a bit much to clean. The dishwasher doesn't get all the tight edges (which is probably why it takes the dog a bit to get the treat out). I've taking to soaking it in the sink, then scrubbing it with a brush to get it somewhat clean. I don't know if there would be a way to redesign it to make it easier to clean but still difficult for the dog to get the treats... probably not.
These mats are invaluable for puppies! Very occupying to the pup. Smear them with some canned food, peanut butter, or melted cheese, and the puppy will lick the grooves for a few minutes! Peanut butter is harder to remove, however. I read the other reviews about the difficulty cleaning the mats. Peanut butter seems to keep the puppy occupied for a bit longer, just FYI, but doesn't come off the mat as quickly. We like to use the Dogswell chicken electrolyte packets as well on the mats. Put them in the X-Pen or crate and you get a few minutes to do other chores. Also great for the grooming introduction, because the pup is not as wiggly if they're licking the mat.
My pups love the yummy peanut butter i put on these mats but the peanut butter sticks to the cones and is very hard to wash off. Even soaking doesnt help! It takes a lot of scrubbing to get clean!
These lick mats are a great deal. Lick mats are awesome, I give them to my dogs every single evening. I usually take a baby food pouch of a dog sage fruit and veggie and split it among 2 lick mats for my 2 dogs and freeze. Sometimes I add honey or peanut butter. It does not last them long but they still love it and it is good enrichment for them.
