Epigen 90 is one of Wysong's most concentrated dry diets, and a very slow, gradual introduction as per the feeding guidelines is necessary for most pets. Even then, not every pet will be able to consume this food long-term as a standalone meal. Wysong Epigen varieties are extremely nutrient dense, highly concentrated, starch-free diets. There is no other kibble diet like them on the market in terms of protein & nutrient concentration.

Improved blood sugar, Gave dog diarrhea
By MeghanR on Feb 26, 2021
We tried this as a recommendation for my corgi who is diabetic. It did help improve his blood sugars, but he was having more diarrhea as we introduced more of the food. We tried for about a month without improvement. Once going back to his old food, the diarrhea resolved. On a side note, Chewy's customer service is wonderful and I will continue to look for more options through Chewy.com. A company that we believe truly cares about these animals!

My diabetic cat was doing bad. She had an ear infection that would NOT go away. Like over a year suffering with this and I'm not even sure how much money down the drain. Lots of antibiotics and nothing helped...until I switched her to this food. Night and day. Only thing I needed to add was a little fish oil because her skin got flakey, dandruff. The best.

Wysong Epigen 90
By eveybevy on Feb 3, 2021
My 11 year old cat JoJo is diabetic . I was using food Veterinary Recommend which they sell, dry food. He ate it, but I did think ingredients were that great. He stopped eating , ate very little. I ordered Epigen 90 and he gobbled it up. He will no longer eat the other brand. I will try to get my fat kitty to eat it to. The both eat canned food.

Great ingredients!
By Jinx on Jan 15, 2021
Very happy with Wysong food. It took a lot of research to find a dry cat food without so many carbohydrates and fillers. Having pets with diabetes and a food they will actually eat has been frustrating. So thank you Wysong and Chewy for making this food possible to us consumers!

Life saver
By Grace on Nov 23, 2020
This food was recommended by a friend after we had taken our 11 year old cat into the emergency vet 4-5x over about 2-3 years. We did a lot of tests and exrays and no one could figure out what it was exactly. Some said the heart, some the brain, some digestive, some a disease that caused inflammation. So far after changing our aging cat to this cat food that we give her 2x a day, combined w a once a day small amount of fish oil (human vitamin gel cap- 5 drops) and a small amount of cat probiotics disguised in a tiny (1/8 tsp) portion of wet food, she has not had “an episode” that would send her to the ER. It’s been almost 1.5 years!! Cats actually prefer healthy food!
By Katrina on Jan 28, 2021
I am thoroughly impressed by this Epigen 90 starch- free food for cats and dogs.. and so is my little cat, Patches. It was love at first sniff When I opened the bag. I started by mixing it with her old kibbles, supposedly a healthy brand But with 37% carbs! She picked the Epigen kibbles out from the rest and ate them exclusively. Even when I put it on her canned food with gravy, she took the Epigen and left the gravy food. Within two days she had, by her own choice, converted totally to the new Epigen diet. I will have to give away the other stuff as she won't touch it. My little Patches is 14 to 15 years old now, so considered an older cat. She can still do some high jumps I am thoroughly impressed by this Epigen 90 starch- free food for cats and dogs.. and so is my little cat, Patches. It was love at first sniff When I opened the bag. I will have to give away the other stuff as she won't touch it. My little Patches is 14 to 15 years old now, so considered an older cat. She can still do some high jumps and somersaults to catch feathers in the air, but is not nearly as active as when she was younger. After about 10 days on Epigen she seems a little happier and friskier, more playful. She joins me in exercises when I get down on the floor and is gleefully enjoying the activity. And I almost think her fur is softer already. The most remarkable thing is that now she no longer begs for food constantly between breakfast and dinner, or between dinner and the middle of the night. She seems perfectly satisfied with a tablespoon of kibbles in the morning and one for supper, with another tablespoon reserved for training treats in the afternoon and evening. The Epigen 90 kibbles seem even more motivating than the famous but unhealthy treats I used to use for training. I was shocked when I read that label on the famous brand. I will probably add a teaspoon of pumpkin to her diet to avoid hairballs and keep the digestive tract running smoothly. Plus a few blueberry treats as special rewards. She's 10 pounds now but my vet thinks she should be 7 pounds. I've been trying for several years to trim her tummy, but to no avail. With the old food, she'd be begging for more food an hour after meals. Like eating in a Chinese restaurant and being starving again an hour later ( for me personally, feeling like fainting). I believe it was for the same reason. The high glycemic carbohydrates jacked her blood sugar way up and quickly dropped it like a rock, leaving her feeling restless and hungry again. With the Epigen 90, she takes a little stroll outdoors, then comes in and stretches out like a Tigress in the jungle, in a state of bliss and grooming peacefully. She won't even touch any treats offered until at least 3 to 4 hours after her 1 Tablespoon meal - and that's a level Tablespoon, not heaping. I suspect that as she very gradually loses that extra 3 pounds she may go on to eating maybe 3/8 of a cup a day. Even then I calculate The Epigen 90 will cost no more than feeding a cheap brand of well-known canned food, because she eats less and wastes less. Every kibble is eaten. I call her my Paleo-Keto cat now, and I think that's way cats were designed to be. … more

Loves it, but eating it is a challenge
By AuntieA on Dec 4, 2020
Beau tried to climb in the bag to get to the kibble when it arrived! The issue is he had all his teeth removed last month because of stomatitis. With some remaining inflammation/drool he hasn't figured out how to get much down. I crushed it, but that didn't help. Wish there was a solution. He keeps trying to eat it.

Looks like this may be a Winner!
By Missy on Sep 26, 2020
So far so good! Can't say that I've been able to find a dry food with less carbs and all this good stuff in it! Surely much better than any Rx. Vet food that's much more costly and still has corn in it! After a slow intro, but not on it 100% as of yet, I've noticed a decrease in the amount of food that my cats are eating. My fat cat is loosing weight and my diabetic cats blood glucose is coming down. Also, less stinky in the litter box. I will know more once we've done the completed switchover. I plan to continue feeding this to my cats in hopes of keeping them all healthy and well til a ripe old age. (I will update my review once we've done the total switch over.)

3 cats love it!
By Catlady876438 on Aug 20, 2020
Had to get some dry food because one of our little monsters faked his death, so we did whatever we could to get him to eat. Now if we don’t give him some kibble with his wet food, he destroys the house. I hope this is as high protein as it looks, since they all seem to love it. I will say the tiny terror does stay calm until around 6am instead of 3am now, so perhaps it’s keeping him full!

Low Carb Food For My Cat
By Ness on Jul 1, 2020
I looked for hours for a low carb, lower than 10% dry food for my cat when I finally came across this food. Cat was considered diabetic with a blood sugar of 263 with stress. It came down to 147 after feeding her a wet Fancy Feast. Then she got sick with that, so I decided to switch back to a dry food. She still has some stomach issues but will probably stay with Epigen 90.
