What type/size battery does this use?

The YIP Smart Tag ID & Tracker uses a 2032 coin cell battery.

Does the tag notify you of the dog’s location even when the dog is not moving? And would I have to be within a certain distance of the tag for it to work with my Find My app?

If your are within range of your YIP Smart Tag (approximately 300 feet), Apple Find My will show that the tag is with you. If your smart tag in not in range of your iPhone, the tag will go into extended range mode and begin looking for other iPhone devices to communicate with. As soon as the smart tag comes within 300 feet of another iPhone, the location of your smart tag will update on your iPhone, in the Apple Find My app. When in extended range mode, your smart tag will look to update its location approximately every 15 minutes. If your smart tag shows more than "15 minutes ago", this indicates that your smart tag has not come within range of another iPhone. As soon as it does, the location will be updated. If you are waiting for the location to be updated, you can turn on the "notify me when found" button and you will receive a notification as soon as your smart tag comes in contact with another iPhone.

Does this have an airtag inside of it?

This does not include an Apple Airtag, it features the YIP Smart Tag which is compatible with Apple devices.

The tag is large, it looks a little silly in my 25 lb dog. I have had it for just over a year, and the one time he got loose I was too panicked and forgot to even use it. However, I find that it is only accurate if you’re within 300’ of the dog. I do however like tha lt when I go into the store and he stays in the truck, the app will buzz and tell me “dog left behind”. I really appreciated that. As far as using it for tracking, I would not recommend this product if you plan to use it to find your pet outside of 300’.

Plastic is junk. I have concerns over my dog being able to destroy this, especially with a battery inside. I ordered it thinking it would be more secure than the air tag holder we bought originally, but I’m not sure how comfortable I feel putting this on my dog. She is a moderate chewer and leaving puppyhood so occasionally chews inappropriate items. Skip this if you have a heavy chewer or a dog who chews their collar.

Totally useless

I've owned this a number of months. My dog has wandered off multiple times and the tag has NEVER found my dog. Don't waste your money.

Not worth your money.

I bought this tag 6 months ago for my dog. And this week, it snapped at the top and is no longer usable. We have no idea how it happened. But there's no way to fix

I bought this tag 6 months ago for my dog. And this week, it snapped at the top and is no longer usable. We have no idea how it happened. But there's no way to fix it, and now I have to buy a new one. We are switching to a different type of tracker. Not only because it broke, but also because of the inconsistency of tracking. We were out of town, and the tracker kept telling us he was in different locations when he wasn't (verified with the sitter).
