I have fed Can O' Snails to my turtle regularly for 17 years, as a backup/treat behind ReptoMin Floating sticks.
Garter snakes love them
So, I saw in the Q&A there was the question multiple times as to whether garters could eat these or not and all the responses are the same very vague response. Since the description is "cooked in can" and generally no reptiles should be fed anything "cooked" it is kind of hard to figure out what that's about... but this is the 2nd time (in 3 years, so, not often) that I have fed my garters these. Their poops are thicker than they are for fish but not as much as with pinkies/mice. They pass them through just fine and really like to eat them. One snake needs them to be scented but at that point she is ready to go. I definitely wouldn't do this regularly for fear of maybe constipation? Since, again, I'm a little ehhh about them being "cooked", seems odd. Now that I think about it though, in terms of composition, I guess it's not that different from there being casings on reptilinks. For some variation in their diet (ideally, garters eat primarily fish and amphibians with some rodent supplementation, you do NOT want a fat snake) this is great in my opinion, because of the lack of risk of parasites. It's about the same consistency of chicken livers I guess you could say, which, I know some people also feed their garters...
Perfect for Blue Tongue Skinks!!
I got these for my friend who has a blue tongue skunk and he loved the snails! Gobbled them down. I tried to see if my tree frog would like them but she didn’t lol. But it’s great for lizards and skinks!!
Poe and Blossom loved them!
I bought the can of snails as a treat/enrichment for our non-releasable Opossums at the Nature Center. They both loved them so much! I am definitely going to have to order more. They are a bit expensive so they will be used as occasional treats and training aids only.
Box turtle approved!
I wasn’t sure my picky turtle would try these, but after sniffing them a bunch of times she decided that they might be acceptable and took a bite. She loves these snails now! It’s also very thoughtful that ZooMed includes a tiny spoon to scoop out the snails..
My Skinks Favorite
I bulk buy this product every 2 months. This is by far my Blue Tong Skinks favorite snack and diet addition and it's good for him .
My Blue tongue skink Maverick loves these. Perfect treat for a blue tongue!
Snails for Beardies
I bought these to give my beardies something different to try. My female dragon loved them at first, but my male wouldn't try them. The only down side to these was that even refrigerated they started to smell a little weird a few days after I opened them. I might buy these again next winter.
Exactly what you order!
Fast, affordable and accurate! Will shop again ;) Thanx!
Nugget the Northern Blue Tongue Skink approves!
My skink can't get enough of this stuff! I put it in the freezer after opening so that they don't spoil and just thaw them before feeding.
