  • Puppies: at 1 1/2 - 3 months old feed twice the adult amount; at 3-6 months feed 1 1/2 times the adult amount; at 6-11 months feed 1 1/4 times the adult amount.
  • Gestation: increase from 25% to 50% of the adult amount.
  • Lactation: feed 'free choice'.
Transition Instructions

When switching diets, it's important to transition your dog or puppy as it takes time for her digestive system to adapt to the richer nutrient levels in ACANA. Over a 5-7 day period, gradually mix in ACANA, increasing the amount each day so that by day 7 you are feeding 100% ACANA.

ACANA’s Commitment To You

ACANA goes above and beyond in their commitment to quality, with meat-rich, balanced recipes made from carefully sourced ingredients.

The first two ingredients in every recipe are fresh or raw meat, poultry or fish.

ACANA uses a trusted network of farmers, ranchers and fishers to source the wholesome foods for their recipes.

Protein-rich animal ingredients complemented by fresh vegetables, fruit and botanicals provide balanced nutrition.

A track-and-trace system that goes beyond food industry standards helps ensure safety, quality and transparency in every batch.

Try a Rotational Diet

Try Rotational Feeding

Keep things exciting at mealtime by rotating the ACANA recipes you feed your dog. This will allow your best friend to enjoy a variety of animal proteins in delicious and nourishing new flavors. Don’t transition too abruptly, though—start by replacing 25% of the old food with the new recipe and gradually increase the amount over time.

Puppies are recommended to remain on puppy diets.

ACANA goes beyond the first ingredient in their foods, ensuring quality down to the very last ingredient on the label. From limited ingredient diets to recipes for all the stages of life, they take great care to provide the balanced, wholesome nutrition your pet needs for a long and happy life. Try ACANA and go beyond what you thought pet food could be.

No more allergies and excellent quality

By Quinn on Jan 9, 2022

Our Weimaraner had food allergies, we’ve tried so many different foods, this is first food that finally worked. She loves it, all her stomach issues and skin issues have been resolved. No more runny stools. The food is very high quality and she is excited to eat.

    Highly Recommended

By Anna on Nov 16, 2021

I have a VERY picky eater, and I have tried one food after the other, and then I decided to try this food. She loves it. She has eaten the pair and pork, the lamb and apple, and now we are eating the beef and pumpkin. So far, she enjoys the lamb and apple better. My Vet saw a difference in her coat, her weight and her over-all wellness just last week, My dog is a Standard AKC Australian Shepherd. I would highly recommend this food.

    Great food

By AKinCA on Nov 15, 2021

Our 5 year old Lab has itchy skin and a history of digestive issues. We have switched over entirely to Acana, and this food has been wonderful for her. Her itch has died down, her coat looks fantastic, and no digestive problems. We’ll see how her allergies go, but so far so good. We’ve liked every Acana varietal we’ve tried, and the lamb in particular seems to be making a difference for her.

Great Food but this bag was not fresh

    By 3whippets on Nov 25, 2021

So I buy this food frequently at my local pet store so I have a good benchmark on freshness. In this particular shipment from chewy this bag was not fresh. It was crumbly and dried out. Not at all what it looks like when I get it at my local pet store. Will not be ordering dry dog food from here or in the future.

    Not tasty per my Bulldog

By JimS on Nov 22, 2021

Ingredients was appropriate for my very allergy prone E. Bulldog. But after about 10 days she just sniff and walks away. Even tried a wet lamb topper. Sometimes she would eat the topper off, but ignored the kibble.

    One of the favorites

By FitnessCookie on Sep 20, 2021

My three standard poodles are super picky eaters. I rotate through foods, and try to feed more red meat in the fall and winter. This is one of their favorites. Acana and Orijen never disappoint the poods, or me. They have high quality, locally sourced, carnivore friendly formulas. The lamb and apple version is perfect for fall, and those looking for single protein sources.

    Gas & Stiff Legged

    By mmgee3 on Sep 24, 2021

Both our dogs really love this food. We are on the end of our 2nd month feeding this & they have both started having a lot of gas (doesn’t stink) & their stomachs rumble quite a bit on & off throughout the day. Our little dog has just started walking very stiff legged with his back legs. We are going to try something else.

    My dogs hate this food!

By Sstearns on Sep 10, 2021

So I didn’t want to leave a bad score for this food alone, but my dogs seriously won’t eat it. I switched due to allergy testing, and they loved their previous food (Honest Kitchen), but I clearly need to keep looking.
