    I’ve always loved Acana

By MoniZ on Jan 15, 2021

Acana has always been a brand of food I trusted. With its wonderful ingredients containing whole prey and no “mystery meats” I can always confidently feed it to my babies knowing they are being fed like the family they are. Even my picky dog loves this food because of how meaty and natural it is! My dogs are the healthiest when eating Acana; their poops are great with little odor, they have little to no gas and it never stinks, their coats are soft and shiny, their eyes glow with clarity, and their personalities are beaming with energy! I’m so happy Acana released food with wholesome grains and ditched the legumes so I know it’s still a healthy choice for my babies!

    great food

    By davesgirl93 on Feb 24, 2021

I have 2 pups, bother older. Rottie mix that’s diabetic (9 YO) and has cushings, and a rat terrier mix (14). We have always struggled with foods that we can feed both of our dogs because our little dog has stomach issues. Our larger dog has had pancreatitis and is now diabetic, so he requires a very specific diet. The a kind of food as far and above better quality ingredients than any of these very expensive foods by Royal Canin and hills science diet. If you look at the ingredients list of those very expensive prescription only foods a lot of them don’t even have meat as their first ingredient. Not sure how that’s good for a diabetic dog. If you look at the ingredients list of those very expensive prescription only foods a lot of them don’t even have meat as their first ingredient. Not sure how that’s good for a diabetic dog. We’ve struggled to keep our dog’s sugar under control, but found it nearly impossible with most of these foods. Eventually my dog went blind due to diabetes because the dog food industry just doesn’t make an appropriate food. So I must supplement with home-cooked foods. The Acana food has changed the game, they have several different varieties of high protein foods that still contain grains but healthy ones that do not affect my dogs blood sugar. Which means I can cut back on the home-cooked supplements. It’s quite frustrating to have to cook 10 pounds of chicken every week and still buy expensive dog food. And as an added bonus, this food also pleases my little terrier mix and her stomach has tolerated it well! Compared to the prescription diet foods that I’ve been having to buy, this food is competitive in price, depending on the variety that you choose, but you get a little bit more food for your money. I like the red meat option, because so much of the dog food industry chooses chicken and, well I won’t even go into all the details about the poor quality chicken in this country. I’d like to be able to vary his diet and take poultry out occasionally and the Acana foods allow me to do this. Finally I’ll end this review with the overall Acana feeding instructions. A lot of the other dog food brands, prescription or not, recommend a feeding guideline that’s way too much for the average dog. This particular brand recommends a more appropriate feeding schedule and actually I end up needing to use less food. … more

    Great, high quality dog food

By ZooKate on Feb 1, 2021

I switched my dog to this red meat recipe over the summer because it contains grains, and was cheaper than the other brand I had been using. My dog had periodic stomach issues, so I decided to see if a food switch would help, and his stomach improved to almost perfect overnight. I'm highly satisfied with the food, and with chewy, since this is the first time I've used them. Overall, I'll definitely be using chewy for more pet supplies!

Finally found a food that works!

By Hanna on Feb 17, 2021

Our dog had so many digestive issues on her old food. We tried to switch her over to different formulas that were chicken free (salmon, anchovy based) and she did not tolerate any of them. We finally tried this and she loves it. She is less itchy and has not had any GI symptoms since our switch.
