My last bag received seemed "off" and now my pup has been vomiting the food up.
I transitioned my young Brussels Griffon from the Orijen puppy food over to this, Acana small breed wholesale grains back in June. He did extremely well on it without issue. I happily added it to my auto ship order. That is, until I received my last bag on Aug 7th. I store my dogs food in the airtight containers and when I poured the latest bag of food into the container, I noticed that some of the kibble seemed stuck together and not uniform with each other. I just remember thinking "hmmm...that's a bit strange, I suppose not all of it always makes it into their tiny food press molds when making it"? And I carried on. Fast forward about 2.5 - 3 weeks later and my little Virgil began randomly throwing up his food a couple times but then tonight it happened once again making it the 3rd day in a row. The bag of Acana in question may have just been a fluke batch but I can't help but think it's somehow related to his sudden vomiting which, has NEVER happened until now. Are the Griffs known for having sensitive tummys? Yup! But he's had no GI issues prior to this. Like I said, Virgil did great on this food the first couple months. His issue started only after this last bag so I can't say I wouldn't recommend to others. But for Virgils sake, I just can't be worrying about odd quality control inconsistencies like this in the future if I stuck with Acana. So for us, it's back to Orijen.
My furkid loves it!
I love my dog and I always strive to provide the best for my furry friend. Recently, I received the Acana Wholesome Grains Dry Dog Food Small Breed Recipe Real Chicken Eggs and Turkey for free from Home Tester Club. I like the product ingredient list which is made from real chicken, eggs, turkey and wholesome grains. The kibbles are perfectly sized for her small mouth. The smell of the kibbles are enticing and my furkid absolutely loves it. Mealtime excitement has reached a new level! She will run to her eating station when she hears me preparing her meal. So far in the last few days, there’s no tummy troubles or allergies - just satisfied meals and a contented happy dog. I do highly recommend Acana. It’s not just a dog food; it gives me peace of mind as I believe the nutritionally rich formula will keep her healthy and happy.
My dog loves this
My dog loves this food! She was interested in it from the moment I put it into her bowl. She came right over to smell it and sample it. Days later she is still enjoying it. I really like the small bites; it makes it so much easier for my 13 year old to chew it up. Additional perks of this food- it’s comprised of 60% protein rich premium animal ingredients (like chicken, turkey and fish) and 40% wholesome grains, veggies (like butternut squash and pumpkin) , fruits, botanicals and nutrients. This food is made in the USA too. One thing worth mentioning- my dog did get sick the first couple of times after eating this food. I would suggest slowing integrating this food with current food to avoid stomach upset.
Dachshund Approved
If you own a dachshund, you understand how finicky they can be. Switching out brands is normally a challenge, even with slow introductions. During our introduction, my little guy took quite a liking very early on, and it was easy on his digestive system. After fully switching over, I have noticed a huge difference in his coat, which now appears to be very shiny and healthy. My little guy has given his seal of approval! Switching to Acana wholesome grains, to me, was a no-brainer.
My dogs new favorite dry food!
My dog genuinely loves this food! She was interested in it from the second I poured it in her food bowl. She immediately was smelling it and trying it out. Now even a few days later she is just as interested in it! She seems to be enjoying it which makes me happy because she is 14 years old and the small bites make it easier for her to chew. I am very happy overall because the quality of this brand is great! I would definitely recommend this to my fellow dog parents!
Healthy coat healthy dry food
Absolutely love arcana, started switching slowly for my dog as suggested for dog food and my pup will legitimately take out the arcana pieces and eat those alone. He is obsessed with this brand and I'm happy because the quality ingredients. This is by far one of the best tester products I've received from HTC . I would absolutely recommend it to any one looking for a healthier dry food for their furbaby. 10 out of 10. I've already noticed a healthier coat and less dry skin!!
Wholesome food
We received the Acana Wholesome Grains Small Breed Recipe made with fresh chicken, whole oats, cage free eggs and turkey for our dog to sample. I love the resealable bag this food came in very easy to open and keep food fresh. The size of the food was perfect for my dog tonchew. My dog finished the whole portion and was looking for more. This food gives me peace of mind that I am feeding them the best wholesome food made with natural ingredients. I love that this food has no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. I will continue to feed this to my dog and I highly recommend this dog food.
Took a few days but my dog loves this, many benefits too
I received my delivery very quickly from Chewy, two days after ordering. At first, my dog would not eat this. She kept smelling of it and would walk away, so I mixed it with her old food. She started eating and is now on the Acana only and loves it. Her stool is firmer and she doesn't seem to be scratching as much as she did with her old food (Purina One). It's a bit pricey but she's small and it's worth it to reduce scratching. I used to have to bathe her every 3/4 days because she smelled. I now bathe her once a week, not sure if it's the dog food but that's the only thing I've changed. The kibble is small and does not have a strong odor. I recommend this dog food.
Loved Acana Small Breed Recipe
My Bichon absolutely devoured Acana Small Breed Recipe. He ate it like he had to hurry before someone took it away from him! I did not add any water or other food to the Acana kibble as it wasn't necessary. I was not previously familiar with this brand and am so glad that we tried it! I also like that the chickens and turkeys are not caged. That is important to me.
Picky dog digs it!
Our dog who is picky about food of the non-human variety took to this right away. We typically have a bit of trouble with him eating kibble as he seems to feel that he's above standard dog food, but he seems to really enjoy this brand. We like the size of the kibble which is smaller for him and I think that contributes to his enjoyment of the product. We also really like the ingredient list and feel good about feeding this to him. Highly recommend! This review was collected as part of a promotion
