Help reduce nitrate in your aquarium and create conditions for fish to thrive with API Nitra-Zorb Filtration Media. Fish waste, uneaten food, plant refuse and other organic matter increase nitrate, nitrite and ammonia levels which is harmful to fish. These conditions cause gill damage, stress, illness and even lead to fish loss. API's Nitra-Zorb Filtration Media reduces this risk of fish loss with high-quality filtration media that targets and removes nitrate, nitrite and ammonia from freshwater aquariums. It is composed of natural and synthetic ion-exchange resins in a convenient pouch and can be recharged. Use during aquarium set up or whenever nitrate or ammonia levels are above 20 ppm.

Rinse pouch under tap water. Place pouch in path of water flow in the aquarium filter. For a new aquarium or when ammonia or nitrite is detected: recharge every 5 days for the first month, and then every 2 weeks for the second month. For an established aquarium: recharge every 2 weeks. When nitrate is detected: recharge every 5 days until nitrate is reduced to 20 ppm (mg/L) or less. Replace pouch after 2 months.
These pouches are size 6, and are designed to work with tanks up to 55 gallons.
The actual pouch is 7 x 7 inches square, but because of the media, the final dimensions are 7 x 6.5 inches. The pouch is sized to sit nicely in one of the baskets of the Filstar canister filters. All of the size 6 pouches (Phos-Zorb, Nitra-Zorb, Bio-Chem Zorb, Activated Carbon, etc.) will be this size. This pouch does not have any stiffness to it, and may easily be placed in the back of a hang-on-back filter, or other sizes of a canister filter. If the filter is very small, the pouch can be cut open and partial contents can be put into a small filter sock.
API NITRA-ZORB filtration should not fully replace other media; it is for temporary use only.
API NITRA-ZORB specifically works to target and remove ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates from your aquarium, all of which are harmful at high levels for your fish. Use API NITRA-ZORB if these levels consistently spike. Contrarily, API BIO-CHEM ZORB works to remove more general aquarium pollutants, such as colors, odors, heavy metals, and toxic gases. API PHOS-ZORB specifically targets phosphate and silicate in aquarium water.

It’s difficult to find a specific a good product to help rid your tank of high Nitrate levels. But this did the job along with persistent water changes
This stuff is amazing I’ve fought nitrates for going on 6 months slipped this pouch in my canister and 2 weeks later boom!! Nitrates perfect. One bag for a 75 gallon.
We had high nitrogen levels in our small 10 gallon aquarium and no amount of water changes helped. I put this in the filter and within hours the levels were perfect. It’s super easy to use also.
I have a 10 gallon cube aquarium that has a sump tank setup. My nitrates are usually in the 20-40ppm range but I wanted them to be lower. When I do my weekly water changes, the nitrates drop to about 10ppm. I used this and it dropped to about 5ppm and kept it there for about three days. I’ve noticed the algae growth has slowed down in my planted tank, which is a bonus when I do my weekly maintenance. The bag is very fine so it’s easy to rinse and holds the particles well.
I use 2 in my filter, and recharge them every 2 weeks. Tank is clearer, and my fish are thriving!
Used this product in my 30 gallon aquarium and after 2 days the Nitrates dropped to 5.0 ppm from a blood red looking vile or maybe over 100 ppm. It's to early for the final result, but so far great results. I swapped out for a new filter and cleaned the filter chamber and added the bag behind the filter. I believe my problem was from over stocking the tank along with over feeding and infrequent filter changes. I also needed to up the volume of water changes instead of just 5 gallons at a time. I was doing frequent water changes at the 5 gallon volume to bring down the numbers, but no change until I added this product. I'm going to recharge the bag in a few days.
Highly recommend. Fantastic carbonless filtration system for 30-50 gallon tanks!
After 10 days in my aquarium , second recharged already did I have not seen any positive results
After 24 hours in my filter, my ammonia went to 0, and my nitrates were reduced by half. It's easy to recharge, and will definitely buy again in the future. Had to rinse it several times before adding it, so make sure you do too!
The nitrate level has been decreasing since purchasing and using this stuff, but it still doesn't seem to be the best. Not really certain if it's the stuff or something we're doing though.
