My desire was to feed the birds!

I actually purchased this specifc bird feeder since it was supposed to be squirrel-resistant. This is not the case, the squirrels manage to get their little feet

I actually purchased this specifc bird feeder since it was supposed to be squirrel-resistant. This is not the case, the squirrels manage to get their little feet in the spaces to eat the food. I pray for the cardinals, yellow birds and blue birds to come and chase the squirrels away. So far there are cardinals coming to feed, praise God along with pigeon doves.

The design and reviews seemed good and I like to buy the Audubon brand but it is awkward to open and close while it is hanging. I zip tied mine but possibly if mounted on hooks so you can take it down to refill then you wouldn’t have the same problem.

Almost Squirrel Proof

After putting on an amusing show for a day and a half, a squirrel finally managed to trip the latch and climb inside. My error hanging it too close to the post so

After putting on an amusing show for a day and a half, a squirrel finally managed to trip the latch and climb inside. My error hanging it too close to the post so the squirrel could get to the latch without standing on the feeder and I don't think I had it latched quite right. When he tried while standing on the feeder, he slid off. I tightened the latch a bit and the squirrel hasn't gotten into it since. It took the birds about three days to get comfortable with it and start using it. It seems suitable for birds smaller than a robin. Birds the size of, for example, titmice, chickadees and finches are well suited to it.
