Precautions
Prescribing antibacterial drugs in the absence of a proven or strongly suspected bacterial infection is unlikely to provide benefit to treated animals and may increase the risk of the development of drugresistant animal pathogens. Administer orbifloxacin with caution in the presence of hepatic insufficiency/impairment. Please refer to the cat side of this package insert for Precautions related specifically to cats. Quinolones should be used with caution in animals with known or suspected central nervous system (CNS) disorders. In such animals, quinolones have, in rare instances, been associated with CNS stimulation, which may lead to convulsive seizures. Quinolones have been shown to produce erosions of cartilage of weight-bearing joints and other signs of arthropathy in immature animals of various species. The safety of orbifloxacin in animals that are used for breeding or that are pregnant and/or lactating has not been demonstrated.

What is Baytril?
Baytril is an oral antibiotic that is used to treat susceptible bacterial infections of the urinary tract, prostate, liver, GI tract, and other body systems. It is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that is available as a flavored tablet.
How is this medication given?
This medication is given orally (by mouth). Baytril Taste Tabs can be given every 24 hours (once a day) or the dose can be split and given every 12 hours (twice daily). The correct dose and dosing frequency will be determined by your veterinarian so always follow his/her instructions.
Make sure your pet has unlimited access to water while taking this medication. Do not give Baytril Taste Tabs within two hours of giving dairy products.
If you have difficulty giving your pet this medication, contact your veterinarian for further instructions. Make sure you complete the entire course of antibiotics even if your pet appears to feel better before the entire regimen is complete. If the entire course of treatment is not given, infections can recur or worsen.
How does this medication work?
Baytril is an antibiotic in the fluoroquinolone family. Fluoroquinolone antibiotics work by blocking the bacteria's ability to make DNA. This results in death of susceptible bacteria.
What results can I expect?
Baytril is absorbed from the intestinal tract into the bloodstream. It ultimately settles in the affected body system where it works to kill susceptible bacteria. This medication needs to be given for several days in order to achieve optimal results. If doses are missed or if treatment is stopped before the regimen is completed, infection may recur or worsen.
If your pet suffers from a bacterial infection that is susceptible to Baytril, he/she should start to feel better. Let your veterinarian know if your animal's condition worsens or does not improve after beginning treatment with Baytril.

Worked Great but...
By CockerMom on Oct 25, 2020
This works well on my 12 year old Cockers skin bacteria breakouts but the nausea side effects stops him from eating while he’s on it. A 14 day regimen which I stopped after a week as he refused all food.

great product - covid19 response time unacceptable
By joanne on Apr 22, 2020
Product was great, much cheaper than through my vet. That would earn a 5+. Service this time would earn a 3 and that's generous. I understand delays with Covid19, but the time from submission to response from Chewy to Chewy unable to reach vet for confirmation, I contacted vet who responded immediately (no issue with vet contact) and the time after vet contact to get to the pharmacy, process and ship, I ended up purchasing it through my vet. Took more than a week to ship. First time ever I was disappointed with service.

Hope for my Jake
By Cookie on Apr 29, 2020
I was pleased to save a few dollars getting these pill through Chewy. My dog still has blisters on his feet but hoping he will heal soon. Happy he likes the pills without having to hide them in food. He loves them.

Baytril, great antibiotic
By Chris on Jul 23, 2019
Although the tablets are HUGE, Baytril is my go to for my paralyzed dachshund skin infections. Had to cut in 1/8s they are so big. Especially for my girl. Unless you have a "hoover" these are tough to disguise.
