As with any dog food, your puppy may be intolerant or allergic to one or more ingredients. My puppy has an intolerance to chicken, and so I had to switch him to the lamb and oatmeal from the chicken and brown rice. The fact that he had diarrhea with the chicken in no way reflected the quality of the food. My vet recommended that I stay in the Blue Buffalo family because all dog food makers use particular preservatives specific to their brand. They highly recommended that I not switch brands because of the added difficulties of a puppy having to adjust to another type of preservative, let alone a new protein and grain. Having said that, this particular food is doing wonders for my puppy, who is now 8 months and almost 80 lbs. He is now diarrhea free as well. I have used this brand and will continue with future dogs, and I always recommend it to those who ask.
So it's the first time buying this food for my new baby. It got here really fast which was awesome because he had just ran out but when I opened the box the bag of dog food must have a whole somewhere cause there was ants inside the box and inside the food. I had to take it straight outside to the trash. And then I had to go to the store to get a small bag to hold him over
Blue Buffalo small breed for seniors the great of all blue buffalo especially for my 3 lb blind 13yrs old Maltese, that still knows where is favorite food is.
My Moyen poodles were so skinny I rescued them from a bad place but once they started to blue buffalo omg they were gaining weight and now they are not skinny anymore….there stronger and healthier thanks Blue buffalo for saving my new fur baby’s!!!!!
The vet recommends to remove the chicken food because it seemed that it was giving him an allergy. This new lamb food is excellent, my puppy has improved in regard to itching in just 2 weeks, he almost never scratches himself anymore.
I changed over slowly from the puppy chicken to the lamb. He started not to eat as well. Then now that he is on it full time he stopped eating. I have been having to add more can food and even table food to it just to get him to eat some. I don't know why or what's up. He eats everything as in treats puppy bones and such but only part of his food now with the straight lamb. So I will just have to go back to the chicken and feed him a straight can 2 on each feeding which if it's straight can give him the runs. A friend picked me up a small bag so I don't have to give him straight can. So I am now ordering the chicken. Great thing about chewy fast shipping.
This is a terrible food, DO NOT BUY. I've been feeding my new puppy this for a week he's had explosive diarrhea and terrible gas the whole time. He's straining to poo, even though he has liquid poop. I tried giving him time to adjust to the food and also added rice, pumpkin, probiotics. After reading reviews on Chewy I saw that many people reported their puppy had gas, GI upset, and constant diarrhea while eating this food. I immediately stopped this food tonight, hopefully will see improvements in the next couple days with a new food.
My puppy was itching terribly when eating her food that had chicken in it so I switched to Blue Buffalo. I fed her just that and veggies for a couple days and the itching seemed to decrease a little. I also feed her a little salmon wet food and decided to reintroduce that. The can indicated there was liver in it and I assumed it was salmon liver but today I went to get another can and the label now reads chicken liver. The itching seemed a bit more after adding the wet food so now I know why. Today she gets only the Blue Buffalo and veggies and I'm hoping that works.
My vet recommended this food when we brought Skye home at 12 weeks, a Scottish Terrier. We slowly mixed with food she had been eating at Breeder. No problems, she loves it. She is almost a year old & absolutely no problems. We also got her a sister, Merida at 12 weeks (when Skye was 3 months). Same procedure slowly mixed with food she had been on at breeder. Again, no problems. Two Happy Scotties !!!!!
This food gave my puppies diarrhea for a week. I thought they would adjust but they didn't. I spent a lot of money on this food and am throwing it in the trash. Shame on you Blue!!!!
