About BLUE Buffalo

Blue Buffalo began with unconditional love and some furry inspiration from a large breed Airedale, Blue. When Blue's family started a pet food company, their vision was clear. They wanted every pet parent to be able to feed their pet with the same care they would feed family. So they created the #1 natural pet specialty food to help furry family members live happy, healthy lives. Of course, they named it after Blue.

Started well now dog refuses to eat it

Our 13 year old yorkie LOVED this food when we first started giving it to him in March. We had tried other brands that he was picky about and the dry food which he wouldn't eat. However, the last 3-4 cases of of this food have looked absolutely disgusting and our dog refuses to eat it. There are entire slabs of fat in it and its all mush, no visual veggies like the first few cases. The formula now also sits different in the can. It comes looking melted even though its in our air conditioned pantry. The old formula sat firm in the can and this is now unstructured mush. When we first switched to kidney food my dog would not eat his dry food, but after weeks of him barely eating the Blue Buffalo food, I just tried some dry food and he gobbled it up immediately. He must have been starving for weeks! Blue Buffalo claims the formula is the same but they have recalled their other products before and I believe they are lying about this one.

Glad it is out of stock

When my dogs were diagnosed with kidney disease I made the switch to this brand since they were already on blue buffalo regular food. In the beginning my dogs would eat it but it was very dry and after about a year they refused to eat it I had to heat it up in the microwave and mix it with boiled chicken broth and all kinds of nonsense. Thankfully the brand became out of stock and I’ve switched to hills prescription diet and my dogs absolutely love it their lives have improved they are happy and I’m happy because I don’t have to mix it with a bunch of stuff to get them to eat it.

only kidney wet food that isn’t too rich

Have tried the traditional brands the vet recommended and my dog ate the kibble for a little while but any wet food would be too rich and make her sick. After she flat out refused any food for while I bought blue Buffalo kibble and wet food, she started eating well again and no issues of the wet food making her sick. When she gets board I add in the kidney shelf stable Just food for dogs which she also loves. Been a great eater since switching to this in April 2022, and was in stage 4 since February 2022, but May labs showed improvement to stage 3. I think it is the combo of eating this food and fluids every 48 hours that has really helped. My chi- corgi mix always would throw up in the mornings a few times a week but making this switch she hasn’t thrown up once.

Great quality food for dogs with kidney problems

My 15 year old dog was refusing to eat, even after giving her medication to improve her apetite. I tried two other brands and she did not eat them. However, she loved Blue Bufalo.

My dog would not eat this food

Like the KS dry food, my dog wouldn't eat this food. I tried even adding small bits of chicken to try and transition him to this food, but no success. He literally went on a hunger strike and would not eat ANYTHING. Vet had to give him an appetite stimulant to get him to start eating again. I had to put him back on his Blue Buffalo Senior Grain Free food, and thankfully, he's eating that very well again.

Blue Buffalo KS and Blue Buffalo W&U canned wet dog food

I ordered a case of each of above canned wet foods for my dog and unfortunately my dog would not eat it. I called Chewy to inquire about my options for returning cases. I was concerned about shipping costs due to the weight of 2 cases. Chewy is refunding my credit card the full cost of both cases. I am donating both cases to my local animal shelter. I had to rate this item so I rated it a 2 since I didn't know what else to do. Thank you Chewy!

Constantly changing formulas in 2022

I've received 3-4 different versions of this food between seven cases in the first six months of 2022. Blue Buffalo's social media team claims there has been no formula change, as does Chewy. My dog will only eat the original formula we received in our first couple of orders, which was a grey/brown pliable, clay-like consistency with visible pieces of carrot and peas. Now we're receiving an orange paste, sometimes with a remarkable amount of fat. I'm not sure what's going on but I sure hope they figure it out soon.

I like it, I really like it

I've been eating Blue Wilderness all of my 12 years on earth and all of a sudden my Vet said I need a kidney support diet. So glad Mom & dad picked this out for me. It's really tasty and I can't wait for my next meal!

Kidney support food

My little loves the food. I love that it’s all natural with no fillers like other brands. I roll it into little ‘meatballs’.. seems to be easier for her to eat.. less mess!

Our Mini Schnauzer loves it!!

Love the product. It is solid enough to cut into small cubes and then we freeze it. Our older dog loves to eat it partially frozen and we love it because freezing it spares her beard of a huge mess. Only 1 suggestion to the manufacturer: There is a small lip inside the can, so you can't take out the whole contents in one easy "slide-out. I've never seen anything like it in any other product, even cans unrelated to dog food. It would make it much easier to cut it into bite size pieces/squares if the packaging were tweaked just a little.
