The football is very durable, and not very big. It is very slick and extremely hard to get a grip to carry it around. Ted is a 10 yr old 30 lb standard size pomeranian, not the little small fluffy kind. He had a hard time trying to pick this up, sometimes he could bite it on the end and carry it around some, but it is mostly a football that he would push around with his nose. The hole for the treats is a little bit small but I guess that is okay. He was excited to get it out of the box but the excitement lasted about 2 hours. There are still treats in it as he is not very interested with it unless you make a big deal about trying to get it. I think it might be better if you had a larger dog but it's not really something a medium to small dog would be interested in. I would not really recommend this treat ball unless you had a larger dog.

I’ve been trying to give my cat some new enrichment activities. Starting off with these treat dispensers. I think these are a great entry level to some of the harder puzzles. I will say, the football is more tricky for my cat, Pippa, to understand. It’s one piece unlike to other Brightkins treat dispensers which I can take apart and make it easier for her to play with, but it’s a good next step. I’ve found all treat dispensers durable for her use and would recommend to all pet owners.

The great, the bad, and the ugly

I have a hard time reviewing toys that are centered around somewhat specific engagement expectations. Some dogs are more inquisitive, insistent, committed. My two are smart and quick to pick up on the 'trick' to rewards during games. They both were all about the football when I had treats in it. Sidenote: my big guy is allergic to Life so his treat options are very limited. Further narrowed down by a size that wouldn't be too big or too small for use inside the football. I ultimately opted for apple, carrot and blueberries. These worked well <DO NOT use blueberries if on a rug!!> and kept them engaged for a few moments. Once the treats were gone, so was any further interest. Thus began the dual staring contest burning holes through the stoopid hooman's soul in efforts for more tasty treats. The anxiety this provoked within them could very well have outweighed the enjoyment of the game. But who knows? I'm just the stoopid hooman. After discovering the joy of the toy came through additives, as soon as they were gone, the vessel became useless. I think over time it would've become a somewhat frustrating race to just get to the treats already. Impatience. Especially with the dummy subjecting them to a now unacceptable delay. It would easily provide a far more stimulating and interactive experience for so many others' pooches if they aren't as quick to clean house. A hair less sanity loss upon smelling any type of food substance coming in their general direction. I would suggest it to be too large for smaller dogs. Simply because the outer shell is pretty rigid with little give for smaller choppers. The rubber-ish material used is surprisingly thick and makes it feel quite durable. It's not thin, pliable rubber, nor is it hard plastic or nylon. It has a pleasant tactile feel to it. Again, coming from an oft disappointing hooman. It has a touch of a 'grippy' feel that allows it to roll and not slide over hard floors that is a huge five star idea. I honestly feel a good if not great portion of the canine consumers will enjoy the football. The smaller subset of hooligans, tricksters and manipulators may become irritated with it over time. I'm personally acquainted with this sect. Mommy's Little Monster(s)! Okay....heres the bad and the ugly. The bad: if there are food sensitivities, treat options become extremely limited without getting in the kitchen and creating something yourself to fit. The uuugly....there is no good way to clean the inside of this thing. Or retrieve a potentially stubborn bit trapped inside. As I mentioned, I used fruit. Anything I put food products in needs to be able to be scrubbed and cleaned properly. This may somehow be achieved, but you wouldn't be able to tell because you can't see inside. There is a circular groove around one end of the football that I had initially assumed would come off somehow. Allowing for filling with treats, as well as proper access for cleaning. However, it does not. And what a micro-organism dream real estate offering! I questioned deducting two stars but took into account I may be more sensitive to this than others. So devil's advocate deducted one. In the end, for the majority of stoopid hoomans and their masters, I think this could be a fun, long lasting source of entertainment.

Perfectly sized for medium and large dogs, this cute lil’ football kept our curious pups entertained! It’s got a tough but pliable feel, meaning it stands up to heavy players but isn’t rough on the pup’s mouth. The texture also keeps it from being excessively noisy when Siggi tosses it around. The treat repository fits extra small or training treats, which is perfect since it has a huuuuge capacity. More treats = longer we can keep them entertained. This is a total game day win for us!

I thought this would be a great way to get my slightly overweight Corgi moving since he is very food motivated. Well, it was until he figured out how to stop chasing it all over the house. The first few times, I would put a few treats in and he would chase the ball around but it could roll under furniture where he couldn’t reach it. Then he figured out that he could just pick up the ball and take it to his crate, now he only has to roll it around his crate to get the treats.

This is the first puzzle toy we gave our dog, so wanted it to be fun and not frustrating. This delivered! Hank immediately figured out he could roll it around to gobble up the treats, and he also enjoyed just chewing on it. (He’s a power chewer, so I take it away once he starts trying to figure out how to destroy it.)

Easy to use and fun for our large dogs. It is easy to load treats and depending on the size of the treats it is easy for the dogs to get them out. The dogs find the football is a fun toy in addition to dispensing treats. I put small treats in that came out quickly and some the same size as the dispensing hole to make it more challenging. Chewy sent the order quickly and is always easy to work with.

This is a great treat dispensing toy! It’s the perfect size for my yellow lab to play with and easy to fill with little treats and kibble. My dog rarely uses his feet to play but this really got him going with those paws! Soft enough to bite, not too rigid. This kept him busy for 30 minutes! Very good enrichment toy.
