What are some good treats to use that are the right size for the holes in the ball?

Answer by WendyDec 10, 2025
I use Old Mother Hubbard training treats. Perfect size and the treats fall out easily

My dog is not easy on her puzzle toys, so this was her favorite Christmas gift! The ball is a bit large for her (70lbs golden retriever) however the texture on it still allows her to pick it up, chew mildly, and paw it out of corners when it rolls away from her. The first time she played with this she was busy for a solid 35-45 minutes poking it around to get all her treats. She loves that it "runs" from her and leaves a trail to chase down. I would recommend this for very young dogs as well as dogs that may not be able to be very physically active or need slow feeders! Watch out, the hole is small. I had to break her regular kibble up so it would come out. It's difficult to open and close, but quick to fill.

I had high hopes for this treat dispenser for my two rescue dogs, both heavy chewers. The border collie mix figured it out in less than two minutes and had the two pieces separated. She started gnawing on the edge of one side and in the time it took for me to get up from the chair and walk across the room, she had already bitten small pieces off, so I had to take it away. I would not buy it again.

Perfect size and weight for play and finding treats

My dog rolled this ball over carpet and wood floors searching for the treats. It’s big enough that it won’t roll under most furniture. No dust bunny diving trying to retrieve the ball under the dresser! Luke the weight of the ball and how devote the lid twists into place. Easy to clean. Highly recommend it.

We use this to slow down our fast eater. It’s easy to use, all rubber so both quiet on the floors and easy to clean. It’s tough rubber so I anticipate even our fierce chewer won’t be able to destroy it. Holds about 3/4 of a scoop of kibble.

Great for puppies

This toy is hardy don’t get me wrong, but I will say not very challenging for our pup to get the treats to dispense. Great teaching you though to move on to more

This seems tough!

It looks like it can hold up to a hungry puppy! It's easy to fill and clean. I do wish it held more food.

Doesn’t stay together

I have a rotation of toys like this for my pup, this is far and away the worst. It doesn’t stay together making it useless.

Easily bitten into with plastic pieces chipping off

My dog enjoyed getting the treats out, not a strong toy if your dog is a tough chewer

Worked once

After the first use, the two halves of the ball no longer stay together to dispense treats. My dogs now just have two halves of a ball. Disappointed.
