Our filly is one eel old. Can she chew this?

Answer by ChewyMay 05, 2022

Can this product be fed to nursing mares?

Answer by ChewyJun 03, 2020
This horse feed is suitable for all nursing, orphaned or rejected foals.

Could this be used as a milk pellet for baby goats to start transitioning to grain?

Answer by ChewyFeb 10, 2023
The Foal Starter should be OK for a baby goat transitioning to grain. Be sure to keep in mind the feeding directions – for a horse, 1 lb. of Foal Starter per 100 lbs. of body weight is recommended. A baby goat won’t weigh anywhere near 100 lbs., so reduce the recommended feeding rate accordingly (i.e. if the goat weighs 10 lbs. (10% of 100), feed about 45 grams (10% of 1 lb., or 10% of 454 g) of Foal Starter.)

Could I use this on a young goat?

This food is intended for horses.

This product was a life saver for our mini donkey. It literally saved his life as his mother rejected him and he did very poorly with a bottle. From the first day we started offering it to him at two weeks of age we saw improvement in his energy and much needed weight gain. The tiny pellets made it easy for him to nibble on, even at a weak 20 pounds. Knowing he had free choice of this feed, and that he consistently ate it was a huge relief. I never expected to have to need a product like this, but I will never again not have it on hand when I am expecting a foal - horse or donkey!

We adopted two 2-3 month old foals that were from a group rescued out of a kill pen. These pellets have made all the difference in them as they were in very poor condition, no doubt from being stressed out and separated too early from their mommas. They were lethargic, skinny, and their coats looked awful. Two weeks in on these pellets and they look like different babies. Much happier and healthier.

We lost Willow’s mom the day after she was born. We bottle feed her and needed a supplement to add to her diet. I discovered these milk pellets and she loves them. Along with her bottles she is thriving and growing so fast. I truly believe they have a life changing decision and have benefited her ability to grow and develop as an orphan.

When one of our mini jennets rejected her foal we bought the Mares Milk Replacer, then when a second foal ended up at university because he wouldn’t nurse we had two “orphans”. The youngest is so in love with these milk pellets that he barely drinks from the bucket any more and older foal loves them too. Thank goodness for these! Two healthy babies.

Amazing product!

I acquired a 2 week old orphan foal and we were having a hard time keeping milk in front of him without flies, dust, etc causing an issue. I found these pellets and transitioned him to the pellets exclusively at about 3 weeks old. He did FANTASTIC on these. He had muscle, excellent growth, and looked as good (if no better!) than most foals that were dam raised. I would recommend this product to anybody with an orphan foal or with a foal that needs some extra supplement.

Good Quality

The foal had to be separated earlier than planned so we are mixing this with a mare and foal feed and he is doing well.

This product was not a fit for my foal. It gave him scours almost immediately. After 4 days, I stoppes feeding it and scours were gone within 24 hours. This may be specific to my foal?
