Inconsistent kibble size
By lufromsm on Mar 24, 2021
My cats love this food. However, the kibble size differs bag to bag, from tiny to medium. Consumers have no way of knowing which kibble size they are purchasing. One bag will have tiny kibble and the next bag will be medium sized kibble. It doesn't matter if the bag size is small, medium or large. The tiny kibble falls out of my cat's mouth when he eats it and he walks away out of frustration. When the kibble size is larger, he enjoys the food immensely. I have contacted Canidae about the inconsistent kibble size. I am hoping by posting here someone at Canidae will see this review and fix the quality control issue.

DO NOT BUY
By Lynn on Feb 28, 2021
Trying out new kibble for my cat with a sensitive stomach, I ordered three different companies. This one arrived with only a couple of months from expiration left, and the bag unsealed along the seam. Old and stale. I reported the unsealed bag (you can easily push all of the air out of the bag) and was promptly sent another of the exact same. Only a couple of months from expiration, and the exact same faulty sealing along the seams of the bag.I'm not even sure the kibble would be safe for consumption being so old and potentially contaminated heavily with bacteria from being unsealed for so long. The other two kibbles arrived from Chewy sealed and with over a year left before expiration.

Everyone said "Yuk!"
By TanksMom on Jan 10, 2021
I bought a bag of this to give the cats something a little different to eat. No one would eat any of it. I have 10 cats...indoors, outdoors, barn and feral. NO ONE ate it. I tried giving it to the dogs (who occasionally drag home body parts from week old coyote kills to gnaw on) and they wouldn't touch it either. But, I was able to use some of it for bait to trap a rogue possum...HE ate it! Unfortunately, I still have 12lbs of this food and no more possums around!

Tricking my cats into eating it
By Bernie on Jan 19, 2021
I recently adopted a second cat and have been trying to step it up and do right by their digestive systems. I know wet is best so I use wet meals to supplement a hopefully decent quality dry food. Several features drew me to this product. The ingredients list is appealing (unless you're consulting pet diet circles that frown on potatoes, peas, and meat by-product "meals") and the price was a steal at the time I stumbled on it. Moreover, I am eager to introduce a variety of probiotics into my pets' diet. While I already provide capsule probiotics to my cats, the presence of these prepped in the food felt like a huge win. Moreover, I am eager to introduce a variety of probiotics into my pets' diet. While I already provide capsule probiotics to my cats, the presence of these prepped in the food felt like a huge win. Yet there have definitely been some issues with attracting the cats to the food from the onset. I introduced it slowly in their old food, but they have been picking out their old food and leaving this behind. Based on observation, it looks like the size of the kibbles may be to blame, at least in part. This may be the smallest sized kibble I've ever bought, which I wasn't really able to ascertain to scale prior to purchase. They're maybe about the size of popcorn kernels, which is quite tiny compared to all other kibbles I've acquired in the past. I think the size transition is difficult for the cats, like they're being fed a handful of dry grape nuts for their meals. I am wondering what I should do with the 20 pounds I bought of this at once. If I let them leave it in their bowls, they have meandered back over a period of hours to reluctantly nibble on the food, but they appear quickly dejected and walk away again to stare at me. It's possible the younger cat may come around to getting desensitized to the food, but our older cat is looking at me mournfully like I have wronged his palate. I'm hoping he'll adjust but I think I'll have to buy a *separate* kibble to continue embedding this one in discreetly and definitely in a smaller ratio. If I brainstorm, perhaps this kibble could come into use as an option for day-trips because I have it on good authority they won't be gorging themselves while we're gone, just some restless and begrudging snacking can occur ad libitum. I'm really at a loss on how to figure out what my older cat is willing to eat regularly that's ideally better suited for his stomach. … more

The Worst not even the feral cats eat it!
By AIJ12Tribes on Dec 2, 2020
Im so sorry for even writing this. Im not that person. You know the old adage...if you have nothing nice to say dont say it. OMG, do NOT purchase this food. Not only did my two cats snubbed their noses at me but the "hungry" feral cats, birds and yes the dear wouldnt touch it. Well folks I heard if your hungry youll eat anything. All the animals that I feed here are not only domesticated but I feed barn animals as well as wildlife. All of them would absolutly not touch it. So into the trash it went.

Average food
By Lori on Feb 10, 2021
Kitties seemed to like it at first but grew weary of it after a week. The ingredients seem whole but moisture is low and the kibble peices are very dense.

Cats won’t eat
By Sarah on Dec 3, 2020
My cats really are not interested in this food and they’re generally not picky at all. I’ve been mixing it in as a quarter of their daily food so it doesn’t go to waste but it still slow down how much they eat daily (probably a good thing). I gave it two stars because it does keep their limited ingredient needs met

Finally a dry food both my cats will eat
By greengrasshopper on Nov 3, 2020
I have two senior cats, ages 10 and 15, I don't think there are any cats pickier. They get wet and dry food. They will eat a favorite for months and then hate it. I must buy 5 different flavors each of wet food every month in large amounts and so much just gets thrown out. I was yet to find a dry food they both would like. One was a turkey, chicken, beef eater and the other a fishy food eater. They were hissing at each other to eat this food today when I received it. So an A+ from me and the cats. It's also healthier for them. Thanks.

I never write bad reviews
By Harrington on Dec 13, 2020
I know every cat is different and most are picky; however, not only will none of my indoor cats eat this, but our neighborhood strays won’t either. I constantly mix it up and try new foods, but this one was a dud. Maybe just a bad batch...
