6 Customer Questions
is this product safe for young cichlids and in a planted environment . if not what sand do you recccomend
Answer by • Feb 20, 2023
This Sand is suitable for African Cichlids, but not central or south American cichlids. It will push the pH in an aquarium into the 8’s. If the plants and fish are tolerant of this high pH, then it will be fine.
Can I use in a Tropical Freshwater tank?
Answer by • Jul 31, 2022
This sand can be used in a tropical freshwater tank.
How big of a tank does the 40lb bag cover?
Answer by • Mar 30, 2022
As a general rule, 1 to 2 pounds per gallon is typical. If you wanted a deeper bed, 80 to 100 pounds would work. If not, 40 to 60 pounds would give you coverage without too much depth. As an example, for a 48 by 12 inch tank, 60 pounds would give you just about a 2 inch bed depth.
Is this white, beige, tan or ivory substrate?
Answer by • Jul 18, 2022
Seaflor special grade Reef Sand is a light weight color. Under most aquarium lighting it shows off a very bright white. Lighting will affect what color it reflects though as it is generally white.
