This gate is very sturdy, bought it to keep dog out of 1 spare room that my cat sleeps in. I do keep it opened during the day but at night my cat can sleep on bed without my dog bothering her and we did remove the swing door because my dog can't fit through, definitely recommend this gate
This gate is very easy to set up. You have the option of attaching stoppers to your door frame, in case you have large dogs or children pushing on it. I don't, so I didn't use them and have it supported just by tension. I got the gate to keep my dog out of the litter box room, and it works great. I am able to keep the door open now, so the room gets a bit of air circulation.
This is really nice in the pictures however when we received it one of the bars on the side had come unstuck and I had to super glue it. Also the bottom part of the door on the handle side isn’t flush when closing it’s like the bar is warped. We’re still using it but honestly kind of disappointed
While this is a decent gate that is very easy to install, the description is a bit misleading. It is NOT Extra Wide. A friend of mine has a different brand that is easy to walk thru, this one has a pretty small opening. I am a larger person so it is not convenient to pass thru. My kids are not larger people and they have difficulty passing thru quickly. Not a complete deal breaker but it would have been nice to know prior to purchase.
I purchased this cat for a foster dog that is blind. I need to block the staircase, yet my cat needed to access the basement for her litter box. I was tired of moving the baby gate I had. This gate solved all the issues. Very happy with it.
This is my second Carlson doggy gate. The cat door within the door is large enough for a small dog (15 lb) to fit through, but it keeps out the medium sized (24 lb) dog perfectly. The younger cats can leap over, but the older cat will use the cat door. Got this so we're not stepping over a fixed wooden gate at the bedroom door and to keep the dogs contained at night. Easy to install. The doorway is 32.25 inches wide and doesn't need the extra piece. Installation was a breeze. There was a random piece of sharp metal adhered to the frame, but it can be sanded smooth, not a deal breaker. The frame is about an inch high at the threshold, so will have to remember to pick our feet up over the threshold! Can be fitted so the door opens to the right or left. There are adjustable tabs on the door which can be used or not if you want to limit whether the door opens in or outwards. This gate seems sturdy, is an excellent value and will certainly get the job done.
Love the gate, even though it arrived damaged. The one post was busted where I was welded to the frame, good news is I just slide it back in and will still serve it's purpose. So I'm quite happy with it over all.
My dog was a cat box surfer that loved to partake in forbidden nuggets. The number of times I gagged when I saw the telltale hint of cat litter on his snoot! No more! LOVE this pet gate because my cat can do his business and my dog can stop being an absolute forbidden tootsie roll-eating menace. BTW the opening for the smaller gate door is about 7.5" x 7.5" so test out that hole size with some cardboard to see if your dog can get through. Buena suerte!
Decided to replace the wood style pet gate..as one tends to catch their trailing leg when hurdling it. This gate is perfect and the little cat door is a bonus! Was able remove the cat door using tweezers to depress the rod. Assembly was simple as well.
Love this gate. It's so easy to put together and install. We only use the pressure function to keep it in place, we have not drilled/screwed it into the door frame. The gate is definitely sturdy enough to use without having to screw it into the door frame, the pressure feature is absolutely enough to keep it stable and never moving out of place. If you have a very heavy dog that is always trying to climb the gate then maybe you need to attach it with the screws, but our 40lb 3 month old mastiff puppy is only trying to climb it once in a while and it holds up great, it hasn't even moved a millimeter. Puppy isn't going anywhere. Our full-grown 30lb French Bulldog can fit to squeeze through the small door, which is fine so he can get away from the puppy when he wants to. I love that you can open the gate both ways, sometimes the puppy is in the way so I have to open the gate outwards instead of inwards. Works great! We have a standard door opening and don't use the extension. Highly recommend this gate!
