Very good for multiple purposes
We got this playpen/crate to use as a block to keep our "fish dog" out of the pool when we didn't want him in. We was always sneaking out of the house for a swim when we weren't outside with him- then coming inside dripping wet to let us know . We needed a way to block the entrance to the pool so he couldn't get in. This works great! It stands up well and stretched out it is long enough to keep him out (that is unless he decides to jump in the deep end - which he hasn't yet). It is very sturdy and nice looking.
The best gate!!
The quality of this gate is great. I like that I can tighten the gate to stay in a certain formation and loosen it to change it. This works great indoors and outdoors (although I wouldn't recommend leaving it outside). It works great blocking off the stairs on our deck to the backyard. It's high enough that both my German shepherd and Anatolian shepherd stay put. While I have no doubt they could jump it, they don't, so this works great for us.
SUPERB, except skinny gate
This is the best fence and configurable playpen I have ever seen or used. The only drawback is the narrow gate that is difficult for large or handicapped people to navigate. It was a breeze to set up, but will challenge some people. Transitioning from a wall attached fence to a playpen is available, but requires switching parts and at least 15 minutes. So consider it a permanent fixture with the ability to travel occasionally. We set up as freestanding in an L shape with zip tied modifications (see photos). The vertical bars are wonderful and just narrow enough to contain a 5.5 pound Cavapoo puppy. No crossbeams means no climbing and almost every other playpen on the market is a mesh type with crossbeams. The operation or the gate is superb. It can open in both directions, auto close, hold open at 90 degrees on either side, AND has tabs to open one direction only if required. The narrow passage (with a step over bar) are limited by the fence design and purpose. I wish they would sell a twice as wide gate separately that we could add in!
Super Amazing Product!
I don't normally seek out opportunities to write reviews but this product is absolutely amazing. As a mechanical design engineer I can honestly say that this product is perfection- allows on-the-fly re-configuring, is sturdy, and my dog who is a 100-lb destruction machine could not make any damage to this, though she did give it a good try! The gate is reliable, we've had this up for about a couple months now and it works exactly as we'd like it to- swings shut automatically but can be propped open. It seems very durable and sturdy. Met every expectation, and more!
Great for puppy
Sturdy, versatile, and puppy proof (vertical bars critical!). Got it for our Brittany puppy and used it as a free standing circular playpen. It was a lifesaver when doing enforced naps instead of using a crate. Also was a super easy place to pop him in if we needed to answer the door or do some chores where a nosy puppy would have been disastrous. He was able to still see everything that was going on and started to understand it was his area to settle down. He is big enough now to jump out, but we still have it around to occasionally keep him confined to one area in our great room. Easy enough to reshape, move around, and collapse down once you understand how it works.
Awesome Item!!
Item came very quickly and was packaged very nicely as well. Gate was easily to assemble and attached to the walls. Another plus point is that the gate is adjustable to fit the area needed and the extra gate pieces can be stored in another area until needed in the future. This item is well worth the money spent.
Mommy is happy, dog...not so much.
So far this has been exactly what I need. My dog can now roam freely about the kitchen while I'm at work instead of being confined to her crate. Plus I can feed the cat separately. Assembly was fairly easy with the exception of the wall mounting. Ended up removing the mounts (not easy!) and attching them separately after marking the spots on the wall. It took a bit of work to get the mount back on the gate after attaching it to the wall. Only did 1 mount on either side, but I think that's all I need for my 12 lb chihuahua/terrier mix.
Very versatile
We bought this to control where our puppy is until we housebreak. The opening is over 8 feet. You can easily add or remove panels to fit your needs. It seems pretty durable and the gate is nice. The gate is narrow at about 16 inches but I think the width is fine for most people.
Good for puppy control
We bought this set to use as a playpen for our Giant Schnauzer puppy. So far I am very happy with the purchase and may buy a second set in the spring to make the pen larger. I think this would be a great set to put in our camper for use at the campsite. The puppy likes the playpen as much as his crate and it's perfect for use during the day when I need a few minutes and can't watch him or at night when we want to watch TV and keep him nearby but away from trouble.
nice idea, lacking quality
This gate is nice for going across a large opening and is easy to move. However, about a year later, the gate itself cracked apart. Disappointed with quality.
