      How big is door opening

      I already own a young outdoor cat who is familiar with cat doors, and I'm about to take in a mature indoor cat. Would I be able to have it lock the indoor cat in, while letting the outdoor cat come and go?

      This product is designed to be used with the Cat Mate Elite Super Selective Microchip & I.D. Disc, so you can have a disc on your outdoor cat but remove the disc from your indoor cat.

      How do we synch the microchip in my car to this door?

      To program press and hold the "Program" button on the circuit board for 5 seconds until the indicator illuminates. Next place the ID Disc in the tunnel opening or to program your cats' microchip, position the cat's shoulders (where the microchip is fitted) in the opening of the tunnel. When programmed, the indicator will flash. Take the ID Disc or cat away from the flap and press the "Set" button to save the setting.

      The concept is great, the door not so much

      The door was relatively simple to install. I wanted it for my outdoor cats. I installed it in a shed where they spend the night. My goal was have the flap able

      The door was relatively simple to install. I wanted it for my outdoor cats. I installed it in a shed where they spend the night. My goal was have the flap able to allow cats in at all times in case one got locked out accidentally. But only to allow them to go back out between 7 AM and 5 PM. This was the most difficult thing ever to program. The buttons are hard to push, the directions are written in many languages, and the German was as easy to understand as the English. In other words, the instructions for setting the door were terrible. I looked on YouTube and found a few videos, but they were only how to program the microchips which was the easy part. I finally sent an email to the company and we set up a phone call. Once he walked me through it I was able to set the door the way I wanted it. Although I will never remember how to set it that way again. That evening, we put the cats away as usual and about 10 o’clock. I saw them on my security camera. We put them back in, blocked the door and tried it again the next day. I was able to figure out how to check the time that was set and it was set correctly. They were supposed to not be able to go out from 5 PM until 7 AM. That night, the same thing, about 9 pm there they were wandering around outside. So now I have to block the door at night which really defeats the . I want the kittens locked up safe at night, but this door randomly lets them out whenever. I would return it, but the hole is already cut and not sure what else would work. I would definitely not recommend this door.

      A Little Disappointed

      This is my third Cate Mate Door in 10 years. Each time some component failed. When it works, it's great. My cat has no trouble using it although his microchip

      This is my third Cate Mate Door in 10 years. Each time some component failed. When it works, it's great. My cat has no trouble using it although his microchip did not work and we had to use the tag. The problem is they do not seem to last long. The latest door has a problem with the door. It doesn't close all the way and beeps until someone closes it. A real pain, especially at 3am and I don't expect the batteries to last very long.

      Settings were confusing and some did not require a chip. Had to call in too see how to make it work. Installed it backwards for it to work for me. (No cat exit

      makes noise when it opens

      This door makes a motor-like noise when it opens, which repels both of my cats! One of them is normal, and one of them is pretty fussy, but the fact that it repels

Otherwise, it is well made, easy to program, easy to install. The noise is a real bummer.

      Very Disappointed

      Great concept, poorly designed with many flaws. It was difficult to program. Had difficulty detecting our cat when she approached. Even when she would push against

      Great concept, poorly designed with many flaws. It was difficult to program. Had difficulty detecting our cat when she approached. Even when she would push against the door it would sometimes unlock, sometimes it didn't. But the main defect is that the unit we received would lock before our cat had cleared the opening. One time trapping part of her paw, a second time the tip of her tail and then wouldn't unlock even with human assistance. Overall, i felt the product we received was defective and unsafe. Especially, if no one had been home. I tried to save a little money with the great price but when it comes to safety and reliabilty i would rather spend more just for safety and peace of mind. In the end, we returned this item.

      Does not work

      I followed every step in instructions and tried every setting, but it still lets any cat through the door at some points and lets not cats through at other points

I can open it with my hand when it’s supposed to be locked. Also, you can’t specify program for each of the 3 cats individually. All settings apply to all cats
