What is the size (diameter) of the disc?

Answer by ChewyOct 06, 2021
The diameter of the ID Disc is 1¼ inches.

Is there a smaller I'D disk available that works with the CatMate Microchip Door? This is too big for my medium sized cat?

Answer by ChewyMay 21, 2021
At this time, the Cat Mate Elite Electronic I.D. Disc is only available in one size.

I have several cats and would like to use several feeding trays, can it tell a difference between the cats? And fo the cats have to be microchiped first??

Answer by ChewyApr 15, 2018
This item does not tell the difference between cats, and the cats do not need to be microchipped first. This item is for the use of the Cat Mate Elite Super Selective Microchip & I.D. Disc Cat Flap or the Cat Mate Elite Super Selective I.D. Disc Cat Flap only.

How long does the chip last? How often do you ahve to replace it?

Answer by ChewyJun 29, 2022
The ID Discs should not need to be replaced unless they become damaged or encounter a very strong magnetic field capable of erasing the data contained in the ID Disc.

It is compatible with the Cat Mate Microchip CatFlap catdoor and it works but it is twice as big as the tag from another manufacturer we had. I wish this tag was half the size as it is and still work as great as it does. It's too big for my kitty. But ii works. I'm hoping the manufacturer will make a smaller tag in the future for smaller kitties.

Would recommend this for a cat that has a chip. Otherwise, look at the cheaper model. Also experiment with the door. Two things don't make sense per the instructions: 1- why do you have to use the batteries when in the training mode, 2- why do you have to program the training mode, since it doesn't stay in training mode indefinitely, if that's what you want. Answer is you don't have to; but that'snot what the manual states, nor what the help desk states. Lastly, why do you have to separately purchase the disks in this model, when two come with the cheaper model. If your cat has a chip, get this one, if it doesn't, get the cheaper one, or ask them to throw in one for no charge.
