The purr mechanism is replaceable but the battery only, however we do not sell the mechanism separate from the toy. As for the battery the only information we have is that it's a Alkaline battery.

Cats don’t like it

Bought 2 of these for my 2 cats. The motor is loud but doesn’t really vibrate and doesn’t sound like purring. Both my cats seem to be put off and after an initial investigation are now ignoring the toys. I’m planning to replace the motor in the handy little pocket with a little cloth bag of catnip to at least get them to use the toys.

Cat didn't care for

This was a cute item and I thought our kitty would love it but she didn't. She lost her best friend (our dog) and so I thought this might help her/comfort her but she basically sniffed it and walked away. I turned on the "purring" and then she really didn't like it.

A little loud, but very cute.

I wasn't expecting the sound to be quite so loud! I know my guys are motorboat purrers, but this little sloth puts them to shame. It's very soft, and adorable, but because of the volume, neither of mine will go near it. That said, four stars because it's exactly what it says it is- a soft pillow that purrs. Passing it on to a friend with younger cats!

Good idea!

I decided to try this for my kitten's upcoming surgery recovery. I wanted him to have a snuggly friend. He seems to like it! He licked it quite a bit which is his way of saying he likes something. The purr takes a certain touch to turn on so I'm not sure if he will be able to activate the purr by himself, but that's ok. The quiet sloth is just as cuddly!

Purr-fect!! Just got

I just received this. Showed it to my 7 and 10 month old kittens. The 7-month-old spent some time giving the sloth a bath. Then the 10-month-old decided to take a nap on it. I think it has been welcomed into the family.

Sloth pillow/toy

Sadly this one is cute, but none of the fur kids are interested in it. I had hoped (in spite of other reviews) that it might comfort my girl who has self-isolated due to her rather obnoxious younger brother - OR - that one or both of the boys would learn how to really PURR (both are very faint - not the loud motors I'm used to!) but no one seems the least bit interested in it.

great idea, so-so execution

Had hoped this would be a good fit for calming anxiety related to travel, but the purr noise is too loud to be comforting. Might be a good fit for other cats but just confused mine unfortunately!

Not what I expected.

The purring is very loud, I was hoping for it to be a bit more subtle and realistic. The fabric is super soft so my kitten loved the texture, however it didn’t provide the comfort and soothing I was really wishing for

BEST TOY EVER

My three cats absolutely love this sloth purring toy. It is so calming and peaceful and each cat loves snuggling with it. Highly recommended. One of my cats had ear surgery and had to wear a cone and he snuggled with this toy and it really helped him sleep and stay calm
