FAQ

What is lotilaner, the active ingredient in Credelio?

Lotilaner is a member of the isoxazoline class of parasiticides. It has acaracidal and insecticidal activity, and acts as an inhibitor of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)–gated chloride channels (GABACls).

Can Credelio be given to dogs with food allergies?

Credelio tablets are made with a beef flavoring containing pork liver and soy but no actual beef. Tablets also contain barley, wheat and lactose. Consult your veterinarian before using in dogs with food allergies to pork, soy, barley, wheat or lactose.

What is the acceptability/ palatability of Credelio

In a field trial, the acceptability of credelio was tested at 10 different locations across the u.s. 94% of dogs accepted Credelio from the hand, in the bowl or with food. The remaining 6% accepted Credelio when placed in the mouth. There were no reports of unsuccessful dosing.

The positive control in the u.s. field trial was Nexgard® (afoxolaner). Acceptability results were very similar, with only 4% reaching the “placed in mouth” stage. Also, Nexgard had no reports of unsuccessful dosing.

What is the shelf life of Credelio?

Please reference the individual packaging of Credelio for the expiration date.

How long does a Credelio tablet remain stable outside the blister pack?

No stability testing has been performed on tablets once they have been removed from the blister pack. We do not recommend taking the tablets out of the blister pack for storage in another container. Credelio tablets should only be taken out of the blister pack at the time of dosing.

Is Credelio gluten-free?

    don't order from pharmacy

By Byrd on Nov 8, 2020

My advice....I have been fighting for Chewy to get my auto-ship Rx correct for 3 months. They still can't get it right. First month, it took a couple of weeks for Chewy's pharmacy to contact my vet. My vet ended up contacting Chewy to get it approved. Month 2, waited and waited, called. Come to find out there were two Rx for my dog, one under her first and last name and the other under her first name. Rather than Chewy's pharmacy calling and asking questions, my Rx sat in "limbo" until I called to see what was the problem. However, I was assured by customer service that it was all fixed and I would not experience anymore problems. It has been saying, "Preparing for shipment" since Nov. 2 so I emailed. Got a message that the pharmacy has reached out to my vet but has gotten no response. Same excuse they gave the first month and why do they need to contact my vet if it has already been approved? My advice, order from another company. Chewy's pharmacy is lacking in customer service and work ethic. … more

Might be a good medication but sells out of date to businesses

By JinJin on Nov 2, 2020

I changed to Chewy to get this because my Vet sold me out of date Credelio and included a letter saying it was OK from the manufacture to extend the date it expires. I don't like this kind of business and will be changing on the next refill. This is not about Chewy but Credelio even though I think they might consider letting you know they are shipping out of date stuff.

    Just What What Puppy Needed

By Sherri on Dec 7, 2020

This was my vet’s first choice. Thank goodness Chewy offered it in single-tablet packs. Hoping she makes the cut-off for the six pack next month.

    I guess it works

By Nancy on Oct 26, 2020

They want a review 2 weeks after my dog has taken this. Hard to tell if it will work over time. My dog still has no fleas. Guess that's good news.

    New Favorite

    By CritterMama15 on Aug 27, 2020 Top 1000 Contributor

I used to use topicals, but they simply do not work anymore in the south. After tons of research, I decided to go with Credelio this year for my 10 lb. Pekapoo and my 63 lb. Border Collie. Neither have experienced any of the side effects associated with many other pills in this class and best of all -- no fleas!!!

I love these little pills. My little Abby is a 3year old chihuahua. She was anxious & scratching constantly, she was miserable. I searched for anything to help, baths, special soaps, drops. Finally, her Vet suggested Credelio. To me & to her, it's a miracle. No more scratching, not anxious anymore! She chewed the pill right up with no problem. Thank you for creating this pill for our furbabies.I also want to thank Chewy for carrying these & for the monthly shipments .

    Missing Items

By Taffysmom on Mar 12, 2020

Well I really did not want to do this but here goes. The order arrived and for the first time some was missing. I ordered 6 and only 1 was in the box. I have called and the second time was told someone from pharmacy would get back with me. No call back. Due to a family emergency I was unable to make a third call when I should have so I am out 5 months worth of treatment. Now I will give them another chance but I suspect my vet is going to have an issue approving a refill at this time. I am in a tizzy now.
