FAQ

What is lotilaner, the active ingredient in Credelio?

Lotilaner is a member of the isoxazoline class of parasiticides. It has acaracidal and insecticidal activity, and acts as an inhibitor of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)–gated chloride channels (GABACls).

Can Credelio be given to dogs with food allergies?

Credelio tablets are made with a beef flavoring containing pork liver and soy but no actual beef. Tablets also contain barley, wheat and lactose. Consult your veterinarian before using in dogs with food allergies to pork, soy, barley, wheat or lactose.

What is the acceptability/ palatability of Credelio

In a field trial, the acceptability of credelio was tested at 10 different locations across the u.s. 94% of dogs accepted Credelio from the hand, in the bowl or with food. The remaining 6% accepted Credelio when placed in the mouth. There were no reports of unsuccessful dosing.

The positive control in the u.s. field trial was Nexgard® (afoxolaner). Acceptability results were very similar, with only 4% reaching the “placed in mouth” stage. Also, Nexgard had no reports of unsuccessful dosing.

What is the shelf life of Credelio?

Please reference the individual packaging of Credelio for the expiration date.

How long does a Credelio tablet remain stable outside the blister pack?

No stability testing has been performed on tablets once they have been removed from the blister pack. We do not recommend taking the tablets out of the blister pack for storage in another container. Credelio tablets should only be taken out of the blister pack at the time of dosing.

Is Credelio gluten-free?

Yes, Credelio is considered gluten-free.

    Only treatment that actually works

By Muffy on Nov 21, 2021

Really works! Out of everything else I tried this worked! She had 4 ticks in less than 2 weeks and after this tablet, had had none and I gave it to her about a month ago now.

LONG TERM user - cannot say enough POSITIVE about CREDILIO

By RJforever on Aug 24, 2021

Have used CREDILIO many years for 11 pound Terrier mix who is allergic to fleas in an area that is highly prone to fleas. He is one happy little dog. He eats them right out of my hand. He is 13 years old now and the vet and I tried multiple cures until we found the perfect one and this is it.

    Easy to Use

By MeliR on Jun 9, 2021

I had been given a sample of this product by my vet about a year ago. Admittedly my husband and I were terrible about remembering to use the Frontline that we had been using for years. I love the idea of giving my dog her flea and tic treatment via a monthly pill. I tried it for the first time within this month. I didn't realize I was supposed to give it to my dog with food (my fault, I should've read the package). I'm not sure if it upset her stomach. She has had some issues not eating lately and I'm not sure if it's related to the Credelio or other issues. I'm only bringing this up because the Credelio is the only "new" thing I have given her recently. I will update my review after I had been given a sample of this product by my vet about a year ago. Really like this product!!

By SusieQ on Jan 27, 2021

I am a new user of Credelio. Had never heard of it before. I recently adopted a rescue puppy and this is what the vet had prescribed for him. It is so much more convenient than the topical rx I had been using on my previous dog.

    don't order from pharmacy

By Byrd on Nov 8, 2020

My advice....I have been fighting for Chewy to get my auto-ship Rx correct for 3 months. They still can't get it right. First month, it took a couple of weeks for Chewy's pharmacy to contact my vet. My vet ended up contacting Chewy to get it approved. Month 2, waited and waited, called. Come to find out there were two Rx for my dog, one under her first and last name and the other under her first name. Rather than Chewy's pharmacy calling and asking questions, my Rx sat in "limbo" until I called to see what was the problem. However, I was assured by customer service that it was all fixed and I would not experience anymore problems. It has been saying, "Preparing for shipment" since Nov. 2 so I emailed. Got a message that the pharmacy has reached out to my vet but has gotten no response. Same excuse they gave the first month and why do they need to contact my vet if it has already been approved? My advice, order from another company. Chewy's pharmacy is lacking in customer service and work ethic. … more
