I have been looking for feed suitable for rabbits with no added synthetic vitamins. I love that this food focuses on whole food nutrition. I was concerned about the addition of sunflower seeds to their diet initially, but the extra fat will be useful as the weather gets colder. I mix this with their normal food for variety. I noticed a few comments about bugs in the food. If it makes a difference, I bought the 20 lb bag and have not seen anything yet. I could not find a date anywhere on the bag but when you open the bag it smells fresh. It is not as colorful as shown in the product images. The fruit bits look hard and dry, but the rabbits are eating so that is good enough for me. I noticed that the Rosewood Meadow Menu rabbit food is no longer available on Chewy (and out of stock indefinitely everywhere else). I thought it was the best rabbit food despite only trying it one time. I wish I stocked up on more before it was discontinued.
Sadly I can no longer recommend this product. I have been using this as the base for my forage based feed regimen for the last 6 months and several times now (as was the case in other reviews) the the bag has arrived infested with small black bugs (weevils, I believe). Chewy has been great about refunding me each time but this last time I also had to toss some of my pricey supplements as I had already portioned them into the feed before noticing the critters :( I would say stay away and find a better alternative for your foraged based feed (I have) unless Crypto can implement better quality control.
I have been feeding the Crypto Aero Wild Forage for two years and have been very pleased. However, my last order was infested with bugs. Chewy was excellent and immediately sent another bag which also contained bugs. I hope the issue gets resolved and the quality and standards resumes. It’s an excellent feed otherwise. I only write this review to bring it to other’s attention - check your feed - keep your horses safe and hopefully this will not go unnoticed so we may continue feeding our beloved horses this quality feed.
Horse loves it but unfortunately when I pours the bag into storage the whole bottom was moldy. We live in the desert where it’s dry, it didn’t rain and the bag was only in my possession for 2 weeks when I found the mold. Sounds like other people have had similar experiences.
We run an Equine Sanctuary with very elderly, special needs, rescued at-risk and recovering starved horses and mules. We are also an Herbal Stable Yard, feeding no processed foods, only species specific and nature bases foods. We needed a safe and nourishing product (not grain) to use for feeding individual herbs, supplements and medicines (holistic) and the Wild Forage has not only provided that "vehicle" but has improved the recovery time of horses who are healing and added to their vibrant health.
I love this feed. I soak it overnight to activate the enzymes (whole oats) and mix it in with other feeds (special diet) and top dress it with the spirulina ( 5 stars) and other special needed supplements for my horse's current health. I am well pleased with the quality of this blend. I love that Chewy carries it and the free shipping is awesome.
I have been feeding this for four years. Absolute best feed ever. I have six horses on it that are all barrel horses that compete. I have not had a single one with a gut issue in these four years. They all get about two pounds daily and are shiny, with excellent hooves, and perfect energy levels. They have great stamina without being hot and I can just tell that they are feeling good. Every bag is fresh and looks beautiful and it has the stamp on it from when it is made. I will never feed anything else.
I bought this for my goats and they like it okay. My disappointment is that the photos look lots better than what you receive. There’s more pellets and hay than anything else.
My horses are on free choice hay with this as their vitamin supplement. They get 1-2 cups per day. I have seen a dramatic improvement in their muscle tone, energy, and over all health while on this. I had used the grain before, which did not work well for them with the oats and barley, but this is perfect! They've been on this all winter with no loss in weight due to lack of calories, like with other feeds I've tried in the past. I highly recommend this for horses who are sensitive to grains like oats.
Ordered bag of Crypto Aero and was full of weevils, date on bag was July 2022 its now end of Aug so watch your feed from them. With that said they are sending new bag lets hope its not old and full of weevils too.
