Description

Cyclosporine is a prescription medication given to treat atopy (allergies to airborne substances) and immune diseases, especially those affecting the blood or skin. It works by suppressing the action of certain cells in the immune system. Plus, it comes in a modified capsule form, so it's easy to disguise in your pet's favorite food.

Proudly sourced directly from the manufacturer or their approved distributor. Guaranteed genuine and backed by the manufacturer.

Uses

Cyclosporine is used to decrease the immune system's response to a transplanted organ, and is also used for arthritis and psoriasis.

Possible Side Effects

Gastrointestinal side effects like vomiting, diarrhea and lack of appetite have been reported. Other less-common side effects may include muscle cramps, muscle weakness and change in hair. Alert your vet if you notice signs, such as facial swelling, difficulty breathing, hives, scratching, vomiting, diarrhea and pale gums, as these may be symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Drug & Food Interactions

Talk to your vet about any other drugs the pet is taking before starting Cyclosporine.

Precautions

Hypertension medications may be required in recipients of kidney, liver and heart transplants treated with Cyclosporine. However, since Cyclosporine may cause high potassium levels, potassium-sparing diuretics should not be used. While calcium inhibitors can be effective agents in treating Cyclosporine-associated hypertension, they can interfere with Cyclosporine.

NOTE: For Generic Medications, picture displayed may not depict actual product. Generic medications may vary from one order to the next by size, color and shape depending on manufacturer. Please note product may arrive in a Chewy Pharmacy vial.

FAQ

How does this medication work?

Cyclosporine works to target cells in the immune system that are responsible for allergic reactions and some other immune system abnormalities.

What results can I expect?

Results are usually not observed immediately and it can take several weeks to see improvement. Never stop medication abruptly or skip doses unless your veterinarian instructs you to or symptoms can recur or worsen. Your veterinarian may reduce your pets dose over time based on his/her response to treatment. Your pet's symptoms should improve over time.

Great prompt delivery but unable to use Care Credit for purchase makes this purchase expensive out of pocket that is a need to help my dog.

Way cheaper than any place I could find

By Marjan on Jun 28, 2021

I need this for my dog and the vet charges about $60 per month, places online for about $40, and Chewy was less than $30/mo. Can't beat it!

    Poor Follow up

By Cristo on Jan 6, 2021

There were problems with my prescription being authorized from my vet, but I was never advised by Chewy. It would be helpful if Chewy can advise customers when there are problems so they can be resolved. That would be better than waiting for prescriptions that are not being filled. Chewy please keep your customers in the loop so we get out medications in a timely matter and help if need be.

    Works Great

By Dallas on Nov 23, 2020

So thankful for Chewy. We tried everything for our dogs allergies, and this drug recommended by our vet’s dermatologist. Very expensive, but Chewy was least expensive, and the on line order processing and delivery is great! We now are using auto ship for this medication so hopefully we do not run out as I cannot believe the improvement seen in our 90 pound 4 year old lab mix. Encourage you to read side effects and watch your pet.

    Capsules for Dogs

By Pills on Jan 18, 2021

Seem to be helping my pet; however, I wish they were smaller and more of a pill. Might make it easier for my pet to take.

    Thank you, Chewy!

By Catlovers on Nov 14, 2020

This medication is essential for our cat’s condition and we so appreciate Chewy’s seamless vet approval process to receive this in the mail at a set schedule (saving us a trip, one less thing to think about, and saving $ as well)!

    Rx Savings

    By ETM411 on Sep 7, 2020

Exact same generic version that is sold by my vet, about $20 less per month. Also, setting up automatic shipments is so convenient since I always forget to call the vet on time to get the refill before the on-hand pills run out! Process to get Rx filled by vet was fast and seamlessly handled by Chewy with no information other than my vet's contact info from me.
