I've used both cypro and mirtazapine before, and I definitely prefer cypro because the effects are only in the system for one day and in my experience, not as hard on the cats mood...meaning: when I've had cats on mirtazapine they were became aggressive, but not mean just yeowling, pacing, nervous like...and the medication is prescribed to last up to 72 hours sometimes. With cypro, you give it once a day, and it's out of their system by that night. It may or may not have an immediate effect, meaning it may impact your cat's appetite almost immediately, or it may be a more gradual effect that lasts throughout the day... my cats have had a more smooth experience, that being said, cyproheptadine is an antihistamine so your cat may nap some. I much prefer this to transdermal mirtazapine and its side effects.

Just what the doctor ordered

This antihistamine works quickly and very effectively to stimulate appetites. My ailing senior kitty with kidney issues really responds to this within about 15 minutes

Great Price, It Works

It's generic -- it works. Cat responds and eats after about a half hour.

I have tried many types of appetite stimulants to try to get my cat eating. This is the only one (1/2 tablet) when combined with Mirtazapine 2ML that has my cat starting to eat on his own. I will have to up the dose at the end of the month to try to get him to eat more and more often on his own.

Good product

We bought this for our cat's chronic snotty nose and it really seemed to help. It was much cheaper than the vets office.

What's not to like? It's the correct medicine that my vet prescribed. Okay, one thing not to like. I took a star off because it was shipped in a box that could have fit dozens of items that size and there were only two. Minus one star for environmental irresponsibility. As for recommendation, ask your vet.
