Remember to keep plenty of fresh water available to your pet at all times.
When transitioning your pet to a new food, we recommend a gradual introduction of the new formula over a 7 day period. For pets with sensitivities, extend the transition period to 10 to 14 days. Start by adding a small amount of your pet’s new food to his or her current food. Gradually, increase the new food amount and decrease the current food amount at each feeding until you are feeding only the new food.
Both my senior girls (8 and 10) are loving this food. Customer service was phenomenal and recommended this was the bag we should try. 10/10 I’m so thankful. We were feeding “RR just 6/limited ingredient” their whole lives. After finding out some issues with that, I was so stumped on what to feed them now. After extensive endless research, I came across this brand. I tried the lamb first, and although it was great food, we ultimately decided after speaking to the company to try this one. I’ll never switch to anything else. Also, their itchy paws cleared right up. AND, I’ve noticed their ears have no scent now, where as usually they smelled of corn chips. Love this food, love this brand, love this company as a whole.
My dog stopped eating her old kibble and only ate the fresh food in her bowl. I mix kibble and fresh food to help save on costs, so I couldn't just keep giving her fresh food. I opted for this kibble because it's a higher quality kibble than the one we had before and specifically for seniors. She loves it, so I definitely recommend it.
Our greyhound has been eating Diamond Naturals Senior Dog chicken, egg & oatmeal formula for 6 months. He has grown a beautiful coat of hair; thick and extremely soft. It is so noticeable that strangers we meet on dog walks have exclaimed, "His hair is so SOFT." Amazing, as greyhounds are not known for thick hair.
My lovely Penny is getting up there in years so I thought I'd move her to a Senior formula. We currently use the Small Breed Diamond Naturals with no issues. Unfortunatly, Penny has a very sensitive belly. I gave her 4-5 kibble pieces in each bowl (about 1.5 grams out of 35 grams of dry food), and for five days straight she had diarrhea all day and night. I was hoping she'd eventually get used to it, but I just can't wake up 3-5 times at night to let her outside anymore. I'm going back the the Small Breed formula.
Transitioned my 9yo husky lab by mixing her old food (different brand) . By the 2nd bag with just this, she refuses to eat it unless I mix something in with it. She's somewhat picky but this is the first kind she doesn't like.
Our vet recommended moving our sweet dog to a "senior" food. I did my research and decided on Diamond Naturals Senior, based on nutrients, health benefits and cost. Our dog used to stay in bed after he would hear his food going into the dish. Now, when he hears us pour his food, he gets up and immediately eats. We laugh about it, cuz he must really like this food to motivate him like this and if he's happy, we're happy!
My 13yr old lab mix has been eating this food for over a yr. She has arthritis, but after a few weeks of this food she was jumping the off 2 steps and running like a wild dog in the yard, granted it was for maybe 2 minutes. Even company noticed the difference. A yr into her eating it and she is still running in the yard and climbs into a 8ft gully to dig in the mud.
So far so good! We used to feed our dog Purina One for years. She is getting older now and I noticed she is having some problems with constipation. I also wanted a food more targeted at older dogs .After switching to this food, as well as adding some supplements to her diet, she is doing better. Last, but not least, she likes it! But, Molly is not picky and will eat almost anything. But, the food does seem to be overall good quality.
None of my dogs would touch this. I made the mistake of mixing this with my other dried food and had to dump the entire thing and start fresh with only the purina.
I switched my senior dog to this formula and he liked it for about two weeks, but he wouldn't eat it after that. I tried to mix different stuff in it, thinking he would eventually eat it again. I ended up having to feed him the Normal Chicken & Rice recipe from this brand (that his brother and sister are on) which upset his stomach but he liked it better than the senior formula. So I guess I'm trying something else. I was hoping this one would work, the price it good and the ingredients are great. It's difficult to find a cheaper dog food that has meat as the first ingredient AND Probiotics. I guess it just doesn't taste good.
