I bought this brand and flavor of dog food for my German Shepherd Dog. GSDs are known for having sensitive stomachs, and my boy is high on that list. After trying several brands his first year, I found one that worked well for him, he rarely had soft stool with it. Then the had a major recall, and they shut down their factory to clean everything up. So I researched and found this one. Unfortunately for the other brand, because I’m never going back now. This brand and flavor has been the best for him. His stools are even better than with the other brand, which is amazing. I’m never changing, this one is the best

We used this product for the first 9 months of our golden doodle’s life. She wasn’t gaining weight. She was lethargic. She continued having stomach issues. Much like a couple other reviewers mentioned, upon extensive testing with our vet and a number of specialists, it was determined her food was a potential cause. To be clear, I am not a nutritionist nor animal professional. But after switching foods, our dog is back on track to being healthy.

Been using this flavor and brand for over a year. The last bag we got last month caused diarrhea for several days. Cleared up with bland diet. Thought it was just a reformulation or something so gave it another chance with a new bag of same flavor this month. Causing diarrhea’s again. Not sure what changed but will not be ordering this food anymore. Customer service was very helpful and provided a refund.

Dogs have been eating this for a few years now and their skin is extremely itchy. They also have allergies and a female has a yeast infection. I’m going to switch from this terrible food ASAP and find one that is safer for my babies.

Seemed like a quality food.

But neither dog eats it. It sits in the bowl most of the day before they actually eat it. Beginning to think my dogs are the pickiest eaters. They love Purina One Lamb but looking for a higher quality of food that is affordable. Chewy has been GREaT about working it out if they don’t like the food but I do not expect them to do that.

I have been feeding my 5 yearold Shepherd mix this her entire life. It has been great until about September when my dog started scratching, hot spots, loose stools. I believe it’s this food. They changed something because we haven’t changed anything else. Like others have said, it’s not the same and they need to look in to this. I’m finding a new brand and moving away from Diamond Naturals unfortunately.

Dogs won’t eat?

My pups are extremely disinterested in this food and one of my dogs wouldn’t eat it for days. I won’t be buying it again. It might be good for someone else dogs

We adopted our dog in May, 2025. In foster care, she was on Diamond dog food. We switched her to a different brand, and noticed that her skin was more itchy, her breath was more stinky, and her coat felt different. We switched her to the Diamond Salmon, and everything improved.

WARNING - CAUSES DCM & Heart Failure DO NOT FEED!!!!

I am writing this through tears and absolute fury. My 4 year old Golden Retriever, Emmie, who was in "mint condition" and has X rays from her first year of life proving a structurally perfect heart, was just diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) and secondary heart failure on 12/3/25. We fed Diamond Naturals Skin & Coat for 3.3 years. I am NOT a nutritionist. I fell for the marketing. I intentionally avoided "Grain-Free" labels because I heard they were dangerous, and this bag DOES NOT say grain-free. Little did I know, this brand uses peas and legumes as "fillers" that, as my board certified cardiologist explained, can block the absorption of taurine, essentially starving my dog's heart of nutrients until it began to fail. I thought I was being a good mom. Instead, I’ve spent over $1,000 on cardiology visits this month alone. My 4 year old do, who should be in the prime of her life, is now on a cocktail of Lasix, Pimobendan, and Taurine/Carnitine supplements just to stay alive. I have to watch her every breath in fear that she will go into sudden cardiac arrest because I trusted this "Natural" branding. I have every digital receipt and the medical evidence to prove that this food acquired this condition for her. There is a massive class action lawsuit heading to trial in January 2026 for a reason. DO NOT TRUST THIS BRAND. They are hiding behind "Natural" labels while using formulations that are breaking the hearts of healthy dogs. If you love your dog, stay away from Diamond. I am now paying for their negligence with my dog's life and thousands of dollars in medical bills.
