How long time wise with no interruptions to file one paw of 4-5nails on a boxer with long quick from not being trimmed in 6 mo
Answer by ChewyOct 16, 2017
The length of time would vary depending on the dog's attention span, nail type and length (amount) that needs to be filed.

Can this be used on cats?

This nail file can be used on cats as well.

I got the crystal nail file for my small dog but don’t know just how to use it. Do you just go back and forth or in only one direction? Please explain how to use this

To use the file, you can go back and forth across the nail to create a smooth end.

How does this help with a dog adverse to having feet/nails messed with?

Not very effective

I have a young 90 pound GSD. When I clip his nails they become so sharp and ragged that he has given me severe and very bloody cuts on my arms twice while pawing at me. I thought this would help make them less jagged after cutting them. This file is much larger than I was expecting which is great. Unfortunately, it isn't very effective for his large hard claws...

No more nail time troubles

My dog HATES when I get the clippers out. This normally happy, playful pup turns into a nippy, quivering ball of fear when it's time to do her nails. I bought this in hope of changing that, I didn't have much hope it would be worth it but boy was I wrong! I won't say she loves nail time now, but I no longer have to chase her all over and try to hold her down to do her nails. With every stroke I can see progress being made! It won't take me much time to get her nails under control, and keeping them trimmed is going to be easy. Best of all I can now remove that fear and anxiety from both of us for this necessary task! If you are wondering about getting this, wonder no more. Put it in your cart and get it! Best nail trimming option for nervous fur babies.

I'm impressed!

This glass nail file is much larger and thicker than I expected (see photo)! You can just feel the quality when you hold it in your hand. I was worried about it breaking during shipping but, like I said, it's thick, it'd take a bit of force to break it. It files my 100 lb dogs thick nails quicker than any other file or sandpaper we have ever used. I'm really impressed with it. One side of the file is more course than the other side. We use the course side but it's nice to have the fine side in case we need it. The case it comes with is nice too, I just wish it snapped or velcro-ed shut because the file does slide out of the case sometimes. I am very pleased with this purchase. If you're on the fence about buying it, I say go for it.

Not for cats

I read the information for this item and it included cats at the bottom of their description as ones that this item would work for but this clearly does not work for cat nails, cats nails are very fine and move a lot if you try to do a sanding or filing motion so no I would not suggest this for cats nails. I’m not sure it wouldn’t work well for a dogs nails that are thicker and not as easily swayed from side to side. I would suggest trying for dogs it has a good amount of grit to assist in the filing process, but definitely not for a cat.

Love this thing

This file is amazing! It’s much bigger than I thought it would be and is well constructed. The dogs warmed up to it quite fast. I haven’t had it for long but it seems like it will last.

Clogs quickly but works!

Yes it does clog up pretty quickly and needs to be rinsed and I also scrub it off to get as much debris out as possible so it works better, but overall a great nail file. There are two sides, and the one side gives me chills even writing this review. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard when you file with it, but it does the job. Highly recommend for dogs who don’t like clippers. Just make sure you clean it after each use or it won’t work well.

Works really good

My dog actually allows me to use this to file their nails, they wouldn't allow me to use any regular nail file so I decided to buy this and try it and without a doubt it worked great. Now tending to their nail care isn't a struggle like before.

Nail File Very Fragile

Never used. File broke in half before being able to try. Please be aware this is VERY fragile. It fell on my floor, and broke right in half. I am trying once again and ordering to see if it works. It would have been nice to know in advance how fragile it actually is. Also cumbersome to use; thick and heavy.

Id skip it

It's nice and high quality but it oddly doesn't file smoothly. I've have not received any desired results from it. Also it came without any packaging or bubble wrap. It was just tossed in the box. It's glass so that was sketchy.
