Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.
Bentonite Clay.
Instructions: Fill clean, dry litter box with 3-4 inches of Dr. Elsey's litter. This depth allows your cats to dig and cover their waste naturally. Scoop waste twice daily and refill box as necessary. Replace entire box once a month. Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
All cats can benefit from a finer litter. I had two cats with urinary health issues and their spraying compounded into a territory issue as well. Once medicated and treeated, we still had issues with marking outside the litter box. I put one box of this stuff out, and immediately all the cats used that one box and refused any other. That seemed like a clear sign to me. Sometimes the product looks different than the previous batch but they don't seem to mind. It is more granular and less fine recently.
This litter is like true sand, and what's a favorite of cats to potty in (besides your potted plants lol).......SAND! My cats love this litter. And scooping it is really easy. The clumps stay together so the litter lasts. I have a pan out with their old litter, a pine clumping litter, which I thought was the best before I tried this. I can't believe it haas a 3.9 rating!
I switched over to Dr elseys a few years ago. I typically use ultra and recently started buying paw sensitive for an extra litter box I put out for a senior cat who was having potty issues. This litter quickly became my cats favorite. It is a finer grain, almost like a white sand beach. It seems lower tracking or sticks to their paws less. I have one cat with a lot of health issues who never learned how to groom or cover up her potty. In this litter she actually does! I think it is less irritating on my senior cats urinary tract (he has kidney disease) because he actually squats in the box and hasn't been missing out the sides. Overall, I'm very pleased and will continue to buy it.
I've been using this product for years. My recent order came and the granules are darker and larger. Not light and powdery like sand anymore. Chewy customer service informed me that Dr. Elsey's changed it. Chewy also refunded my money for the product. They are Awesome! But Dr. Elsey has not let customers know they changed it and there's no info on the product itself. Just wanted to warn people.
I rescued a declawed senior cat and bought this to ease paw pain whilst using the litter box. She had been surrendered, due to urinating outside of litter box. Now I got a kitten a few months ago and bough different litter for kitten. Since senior cat only uses the litter box with this litter in it, kitten won't use any other litter. So now I am stuck buying this for kitten. We have a favorite litter at home. Is a bit dusty and does track due to kitten covering business more than necessary. But easy to clean and scoop.
Impressed with Dr. Elsey's Paw Sensitive cat litter. I have six cat's I am blessed with, and their health and well being is very important; including, their cat litter. What I like about this litter is the safety to my cat's, less litter on the hardwood floors, and it's easier to clean out the litter box. I never considered litter being a contributing factor to renal failure; which, is the number one reason my kitties of the past passed away from. Because of this new awareness, I would be highly reluctant to purchase any crystal or highly perfumed litter again. Overall a five star
We used to use the Dr. Elsey's attract litter but I noticed my kitty didn't love to dig in it and would avoid standing in the box. After trying a bunch of different litters this was by far the best. It clumps well as long as you clean offten, I haven't noticed any smells, and most importantly my cat loves the texture on her paws. Since the litter is lighter, it does track more but it is less noticeable if you do happen to step on some. Just wish we could get a bigger bag like the other litter from this brand does.
I love this litter! My cat was having accidents and finding soft places to do her business instead, this was the only litter that she now uses all the time!
My cats hate this litter and refuse to use it. Why? Who knows? But they started doing their business *on the floor, beside the litter box***. I switched back to the regular Dr Elsey’s litter and they are back to using the box again.
Works but stinks after a week. You will need to do a full cat box change once a week to avoid oder. It is also quite dusty would probably be best for cats with open cat box. But the grains are sad like and it is very soft for kitty paws.
