The Litter Cats Love

Dr. Elsey’s believes litter can be loved—by cats and their owners. They’re on a mission to help keep cats in loving homes by providing proven, veterinarian-formulated solutions.

They Speak for Cats

Dr. Elsey’s puts heart, soul, and science into every product to solve the complex needs of pets. Every problem calls for a solution, whether it’s bringing a fussy cat back to the box, keeping paws free of dust, or fueling pets’ ancestral dietary needs.

Bring Your Cat Back to the Box

A problem cat is one who chooses not to use the litter box. There are three likely causes: medical ailments, territorial marking, or behavioral issues. Cat Attract helps fight litter box aversion and bring cats back with a natural herb blend.

Why is it advertised as unscented when it has 'herbal scent' listed DIRECTLY in the description? If there is any scent, any fragrance at all added to it, 'natural' or 'artificial' then it is not an UNSCENTED litter, correct?

Answer by kellyJun 05, 2022
That is probably one of the attractant ingredients. It is unscented to humans.

Whatever you want it to be! You pick a date, how often and you can easily change it.

Is this litter's particle size smaller than the Ultra Clumping formula?

Answer by ChewyFeb 13, 2018
The Ultra and the Cat Attract litter are the same particle size. The difference is that the Cat Attract contains the herbal additive and the Ultra does not.

You showed clumping of feces. Does it also clump urine? I am a rescuer and someone gave me 15 bags of litter that does not clump urine. Such a huge waste with my 11 cats and 4 kittens that fill a litter box at least twice a day and i have multiple boxes.

Answer by ChewyAug 08, 2018
This product is hard clumping and reacts to both urine and feces.

I was recommended this by a friend who was having trouble with her cat going outside the box in inappropriate places. This was a game changer for her. She told me she used a deep amount of this litter in a big huge shallow like Rubbermaid type bin with no lid (one big bag fits perfect) and the cats will use it instead of their inappropriate spots. Works like a charm. Obviously we have a few bins for the cats. But whatever scent is in there attracting them works. And the litter doesn’t smell like other litter does!!! Human nose bonus!!!!

The daughter (1.5 years old) of our other cat (+2 years old) is very nervous (and is a Siamese) and seems stressed when around her mother. After having them for 6 months and seemingly no major issues, the daughter started peeing in different spots around the house. We have always had 2 litter boxes for them. We closed off the areas (after using an enzyme cleaner). Started using this litter, now they are both using the box. We have always used Nature's Best cat litter previously for them and other cats. So, it looks like we will be switching to this. We also bought BoxieCat Natural Stress-Relief litter but didn't have a chance to use it yet.

Not something I'd buy again

I heard this stuff works wonders on picky cats but it didn't make a difference for my cat who poops on the floor about half the time. Sometimes he uses the litter box and sometimes he doesn't, so we have been trying every trick in the book. I would pay the price if it got him to use it every time, but there was no nourishing change. It didn't matter how clean it was or how many boxes we put it in. That seems to be how is operates with any litter.

When we adopted a stray pregnant 7 month old cat, we want to train everyone to properly use the litter boxes around the house. We started everyone out with Dr. Elsey's Kitten Attract. It worked perfectly. Mamma and 5 kittens used the litter boxes with out fail. We have used different unscented litters over the years trying to find one that controlled odor. Now 7 years later, one of the cats has started pooping outside the box. After a trip to the vet we came home with the hope that we could reverse this new troubling behavior. We went back to Dr. Elsey's products with Cat Attract. In the past week we have only had one failure to use the box.

Punkin was very very sick when I got him. To give you some kind of an idea, his nickname at the Vet is The Million Dollar Cat. He had to have a surgery to remove multiple large bladder stones. They saved his life, and after that, absolutely no accidents except when he's been sleeping deeply and poops on the floor next to his litter box. This is rare.

After adopting a cat that was a little iffy on litter boxes, thought I’d try this litter to make her more comfortable with the experience. I think ultimately it attracted her too well and she started dozing off in the box. I found her sleeping with litter caked around her mouth and nearly ran to the emergency vet but she was fine just too relaxed.

I've used this cat litter off and on for years. It really does work for getting cats to use the box - I had a cat that had become completely averse to the box in his old age, and I was tearing my hair out. It floored me when I poured Cat Attract in and he walked in before I even finished prepping the box. BUT, I have two complaints. One is petty. Petty: Every bag has an advertisement for Dr Elsey products in it. I am so sick of having to fish paper out of a catbox. Please stop. I already bought the product, you don't need to keep advertising to me. Less petty: This litter seems to take a lot longer to dry than other litters. Like, it's soggier or something. We're in the humid south, and we found that this means that we have to clean this box LIKE CLOCKWORK or mold starts growing on it, as fast as just one day of a missed scoop. I'd still recommend, but it's annoying enough to me to knock some stars off.

Good litter but didn't work

The title had us hoping to get our outdoor cat finally to use the box and stay inside. We can't get him to urinate in his box, and we already buy the sensitive liter for the other ones, so we'll stick with it for the price is the same. It's easier for us. I think the litter is good, but it was just not able to attract him as hoped.

I have this in my cart as I will be purchasing from Chewy. I usually buy the WBCL with chewy. I used to get the plain kind, but because of some adjustments & unplanned changes, my kitty did **Not** like the plain kind. She prefers the multiple cat one with the plant smell. Well, even after her spay, she once did not pee in the litter box & peed in an old place! I freaked out & went out to get this at a store near me. It was an emergency. Long story short, cats smell the herbs loud and clear. I switched back to multiple WBCL & since that unintended "accident" I put a thin layer of this on top. Just that thin layer caused interest in her to go to the litter box, & sniff in that wonderful aroma only she can smell, & squatted & peed. No offense since then, not once! Trust me, this is powerful herb attraction. Cat approved. I try to avoid clumping chemicals so I buy this only as a topper, but does it work! And very well. It will be a delight to the nose.
