This feed is loaded with the vitamins and minerals your hens need for quality egg laying! It’s enhanced with prebiotics to support digestion along with phytase to help your hens get the most from the phosphorous found in grains. This gently-cooked extruded feed includes easy-to-eat shapes that are designed to produce very little waste and features a 20 percent higher caloric density compared to traditional pellets or crumbled feeds. Plus, it even includes marigold extract for bright and vivid yolks your laying hens can be proud of!

Feed as the sole ration to laying hens from onset of egg production (approximately 18 - 20 weeks of age). Provide feed and clean drinking water at all times. Supplemental grit or oyster shells may be provided for optimal shell and bone quality as hens have the ability to balance their calcium needs.
Add 25% of new food to 75% of old food. Increase new food by 25% increments and decrease old food by 25% increments until transtion is complete

perfect pearls!

I’ve been using this feed for about a year now. I switched my flock when the were old enough for big girl feed. I love the nicely shaped pearls. My chickens LOVE it! There is absolutely NO waste or mess! It stays in pearl form all the way to the bottom of the bin! I have never had to switch feeds and my girls are super heathy and produce great eggs!

Even smells good to humans!

When I first open the bag hey I was surprised that the aroma smelled so good. If I was a chicken I would totally eat this stuff. And do my girls like it? Absolutely yes! And there is no waste at all, zero. The shape of this food is exactly perfect! Very happy with this feed.

Chickens don’t like this food

My Chickens do not like this food. I have tried various ways to give it to them. They avoid it and let it stay in the feeder even if mixed with their food.

When I say “we” I mean the hens, the ducks and the humans. I have spent a ton of money on the most prestigious, healthiest, purest food you could find and neither hens nor ducks would care for it. They’d barely touch it. Spoiled they may be but quality ingredients is a massive factor. Both for their health, egg health and environmental health. The Docs food was the first one they loved and I loved.

Disappointed

I wanted to like this feed because it seems good quality, but my girls will not touch it. When I mixed it with their old feed, they ate around the Dr.Pol ‘pearls’, or pushed them out of the feeder on to the ground. With the Dr. Pol in a separate feeder, they just won’t eat it. They are not generally picky eaters so I am puzzled by this. Therefore, I cannot recommend it.

Wonderful chicken food

I have used this food for 2 months. The chickens like the round “pearl” shape rather than a traditional pellet or crumble. There is no waste. I was thrilled to see that Chewy is carrying this product.
