Kittens post weaning to 5-months-old, feed three time as much food as an adult cat of the same weight. Between 5-months and 1-year, feed your kittens 1.5-2 times as much food as an adult cat and start feeding kittens as adults after 1 year. For pregnant females, monitor and maintain as adequate source of food so that your pregnant or lactating cat can freely eat as she needs. Always maintain a clean water supply that your pregnant or lactating cat can easily access.
Mix approximately 25% of the new food in with the previous food for the first three days. For the next three days, mix half of the new food and half of the previous food for three days. Lastly, mix 25% of the previous food with the new food. At the end of this period, you will then be able to feed the new food to your dog solely.

My girl was (and still does eat) eating the Air Game and Fowl brand of Essence but I wanted to give her some variety so thought I would try the Fish Flavor, she absolutely loves it and now doesn’t want the other flavor anymore. I will say I am so confused though with all the debates about Fish being bad for cats (I can find no relevant fact basis to support this claim). I would recommend this food to anyone and everyone
We recently tried the Essence Ranch and Meadow and it was a big hit. I thought I would try the Ocean one too so that we could vary it up once in a while. My bad, only two of the four liked it. I will stick with ranch and meadow as that one is very popular with them all.
I am very impressed with this food. All of our 5 cats love it. It is not too smelly even though it is fish based. There are very few crumbs on the bottom of the bag so there is less waste. Last but not least the packaging is well thought out and user friendly. It has a ziplock on side of the top. Great innovation.
Though this brand is a step up from what I used to feed my cats, they did not like this food. Even with slowly transitioning to this brand with a mix of the old one, they do not eat it. It might be that they are used to chicken. Essence does not have purely chicken recipe so we will transition into another brand recommend by a Chewy vet - American Journey.
This food was recommended to us by my friend's sister who works with vets and fosters animals, cats especially. Our cat is totally a fish kitty and this is his favorite dry food. When it went out of stock for a while we bought a sister brand version by the same company, but he didn't enjoy it nearly as much. I let him have a few pieces from the bag when it arrived and he immediately got happy about eating again. He was begging for dinner 2 hours early. It does have a rather potent smell to it. We keep it in an air tight container. But if your cat has a taste for fish, this food is good. We mix it with wet food (fish flavor) every 2 days and he still eats it all just fine. (2 days dry, 2 days wet/dry) Unlike others we haven't had an issue with it crumbling and causing powdery/crumbs waste.
