Questions & Answers

What is the phosphorus level on a dry matter basis?

Does the Evanger's grain free rabbit canned food contain bones (ground bones)? Or is it bone free?
Answer by ChewyDec 08, 2018
This food does feature small bones. Bones add flavor and texture, and are great natural sources of crucial nutrients like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and iron. Evanger’s special slow - cook, pressure - cook process softens the bones so they are splinter - free and easily digestible.

How much of this meat is liver or organ meat?
Answer by ChewyJan 23, 2018
This formula uses about 3% of Liver meat.

Is there any cross contamination when producing the canned rabbit? Our dog is allergic to chicken.
Answer by ChewySep 16, 2019
Evanger's has strict separation, cleanout and operating protocols to minimize any potential chance of any cross contamination.

simple and perfect

I needed a product safe for multiple pets in my house hold with various food allergies. Rabbit is a protein they all love and their tummies tolerate. It contains ground rabbit, water, RABBIT liver (confirmed by emailing the manufacturer), and guar gum (a water soluble fiber from a bean used as a thickener/stabilizer). My 18 year old cat is on royal canin HP and the canned diet was difficult to get and horribly expensive. I feed her this in addition to her dry food with a bit of omega rich oil and her meds. My dog can't eat many proteins either, mostly eats seafood but tolerates rabbit also. So now if they sneak each others food there is no upset tummies/vet bills. I love that there isn't starches or other animal sources in this food, it makes it healthy and versatile for many species in combination with other food items or supplementations. I have given several cans to friends with cats having horrible poops and they have seen improvement dropping seafood for rabbit. I also gave a can to my friend with a ferret and one with a Tegu. I could see it being part of a a blue tongued skink diet also. Sometimes SIMPLE is BEST.

Food seems ok but cat won't eat

The problem with trying limited ingredient diets is that the pet I'm feeding this to is already sick and not eating well. My cat won't touch this food. I wish that there was a trial pack of different LID foods so I didn't have whole cases of food that my cat won't eat. What's nice about this food is that it is also a dog food, and I have two dogs that will eat anything, so I can mix it into their food and it won't go to waste. It doesn't help me with my sick cat tho.

Cat eats it well enough

He's somewhat inconsistent in how well he eats it. Sometimes, I can only get him to eat half a can at a time; sometimes, he downs a whole one. I'm not sure if I'll be buying this again, but given that he has IBD, it is useful to have as a food option in the future. I will definitely keep it in mind for future cats.

Senior Cat Likes

I have a senior cat that is very picky. She seems to like this product. She also likes other Eanger's products. Usually rabbit and quail.

Good Stuff

I have been using beef to make my own dog food; I bought this because I was looking for another protein. but my boy wasn't thrilled with the texture. He definitely likes it but is reticent about eating it, so after adding what is needed to make it a complete meal, I spooned it out and dehydrated it. He likes it! It smells good, too. We're very grateful.

A perfect add-on

I was excited to find this on chewy recently after my lical pet store stopped carrying it. My beagle loves it, either as a treat or mixed in with her dry food.

Delicious!

I gave this to my Akita girl to get her to eat her dog food as she was being finicky about it. Plus, she's never had Rabbit before and boy did she love this stuff. She excitedly waited for breakfast and dinner when she knew she would be getting this food.

Dog's favorite wet food

My Weimaraner-Hound loves this wet food with a passion! She has a lot of allergies and I'm so happy I came across this for her rabbit diet! Highly recommend.
