    defective out of box

    By on

I like to keep a spare bulb in case one goes out, so it is hard to say how long ago I bought this bulb, I do know that I didn’t order it threw chewy. Having read other reviews I felt it necessary to write one as I’ve had the same experience. My last bulb a zoo med uvb 10 (which seemed to last forever) finally gave out and I put this brand new bulb in and nothing. I tried it in other fixtures just to make sure the fixture didn’t go bad. That isn’t good quality control by exoterra if you ask me since other people have had the same issue.

Horrible - Didn’t fit the fixture properly and died quickly

    By on

I purchased this lightbulb for my daughter’s turtle. According to the measurements and wattage, it should have worked just fine with the lamp fixture we purchased, but the bulb head was too long (wasn’t flush). Fortunately, we were able to take advantage of the clip to remedy that situation. She used it a couple hours a day in addition to taking the turtle outside. It stopped working within a week or two (maybe 14-20 hours of total run time).

    It's Too Long

    By on

This bulb works fine. I bought the 26-w bulb for my turtle's basking area. The way my tank is set up, there's nowhere to clip the lamps on, so they have to sit on a wire lid above the basking area. This bulb is so long, it sticks out a couple inches from the 5.5 inch Fluker's clamp lamp. I ordered the 8.5 inch lamp because it said it could house a bulb that was longer than this one. Even with the larger lamp, this bulb still sticks out almost an inch from the bottom. It's been difficult to find an affordable lamp that will fit this bulb.

My two female red sliders love it. They are now in a set up in my garage. Their winter home. The are large adults.

Great UV Bulb For Aquatic Turtle

    By on

This bulb looks like a normal energy efficient light bulb. My old UV bulb was long and skinny and stuck a little bit out of the light dome, which was not ideal because these bulbs are bright. Our turtle instantly went up to bask under his new bulb and its been going strong after a little over a week. I've had many bulbs go out after a day or so, but this one is so far so good. Would purchase agian.

My two Russian Tortoises love this light. It provides what they need since they can't go out as much as they would like.
