I really love it
About to order a second one for my ducks. I put their water pan on it to keep it from freezing in the winter. Have also put it in coop to keep their feet warm in the winter. I slip it into a plastic trash bag for easy cleaning and put a little chopped straw on it. Doesn’t get hot enough to worry about fire and cord is covered to prevent damage. I want two so I don’t have to move it from one use to the other. Have left it on for days at a time when temps are in the teens

Love it, but cannot screw in place
I actually put this in my dog's dog house, he is a year round outside dog. He has pine chip bedding like chickens. It is durable enough that he can't claw at it. The wire guard around the cord is awesome, keeps the cord safe from any kind of scratch or chew.
BUT, it cannot be screwed in place like directions suggest. Pilot holes are impossible, the corners where there is a plastic lip just cracks off. Perhaps company can add a feature with pilot holes already. I could wire in down with wire fencing material, but no need. It stays in place, is durable, and can be cleaned with a cloth. It puts off good heat.
Product says not to use exstention cords. This is not realistic being most chicken coops aren't powered, and use exstention cords for light, so I opted to use a very sturdy, the best, thick, durable, outside exstention cord, 100ft, to get it to my dog house. Its functioning well. However I raised the plug parts off ground, and covered, to protect from rain, for added safety.
Overall, I love this product, and for chickens nests, absolutely approve, but for dogs, it works for mine. I plan on buying another for my future outside cat warming hut.
