I put water out for the birds and "critters" in the winter in addition to food. I had a Farm Innovator's one in a bowl on the front upper level and another (of a different brand) in the back on the lower level. When the temp got down to the single digits the one in front worked and the one in back froze over so I ordered another Farm Innovators one from you because I was "iced in" and couldn't make the long drive to the farm equipment store to get one that worked for the back. One evening I saw a mother deer and her offspring drinking from it. I had "seen tracks" before, but not the animals.

This is my third brand of bird bath heaters, and the only one that hasn’t failed me! I’m in Wisconsin and winter temps drop below zero frequently. My other bird bath heaters (other brands) always tripped my breaker or froze in cold temps. Not this one. I keep it in a plastic tub and add maybe 2 gallons of water. This never freezes even in sub zero temps, and better yet never trips my breaker. I’m so glad I found it! I highly recommend. I only wish I found it sooner. The cord is pretty long too.

The sturdy construction

I have outside auto horse waterers in our pasture. The heating element failed last year, and the auto waterer froze!!! I had to set up a separate trough with a heater to provide water for my horses. This is a replacement for the original heating element. It's been working well. No freezing, the water is warm on cold days. That is what you want for horses in the winter to encourage drinking.

I finally opened the box to inspect my purchase. The ad's picture doe NOT do justice. I bought this for my dogs' water buckets in winter to remain thawed. I didn't expect it would be so substantial! I feel more confident their water bucket will not freeze. The size is as big as my hand which is medium sized but still more than I expected from the picture and it is weighty! It will not easily get stripped out of the bucket. I doubt I'll have to clamp it into place unlike our old milk pail warmer. I hope I didn't over estimate for the size bucket in which I plan to use it. We may need a small stock tank after all to use it effectively.
