Ok, if you love the Rent-a-Coop water system.

The Thermo Bucket Belt might be a nice addition to your watering collection, if you already use and love the Rent-A-Coop watering system with nipples. It comes in two sizes to accommodate the different sized waterers in the collection. Pros: the large belt (the size I tried) is adjustable to accommodate the 2-5gallon buckets. The heat will turn on and off, as needed, to keep water from freezing. Cons: You can only use this with the Rent-a-Coop nipple water buckets or a 5 gallon bucket that you have added nipples to and is not compatible with their brand of water cups- nipples only. You cannot use it on any other type of “open” waterers. The belt is two pieces; the electric component is in a belt that you have to stick to the water jug and the second piece is a type of thermo band to protect the electric band. It would be more convenient if there was only one band. The Lg band (it comes in two sizes) is too big for the 2 gal water jug, as shown in my photo. Overall, it is a high quality water heating system and comes with everything you need, if you already own the waterers it is compatible with. If you don’t own or don’t plan to use the Rent-A-Coop nipple water system, I would not recommend this belt. Personally, I would prefer a belt that is one piece and more versatile, that can be used with multiple types of waterers.

This is a really great product for keeping your chickens water from freezing during the winter. I've tried a few other deicers and were really let down for the price that I had paid for them. The deicers that I bought were submersible. The first one I purchased after a few weeks in the bucket the paint started peeling off and it started burning the bottom of my bucket. So on to deicer number two. After a few weeks it started rusting under the paint and around different seems on the device. Things like this worry me about the health of my chickens and what they might be ingesting. Then I received this Thermo Bucket Belt by RentACoop from Chewy. I must say someone was indeed using their head. The belt wraps around the bucket and nothing goes inside to contaminate the water. Win, Win, Win right there if you ask me. It also has a built in thermostat. The heat turns on when the water gets too cold and it turns off when the temperature is warmer and above freezing and it comes with a nice long electrical cord. I use nipples on my watering bucket during the winter time and cups in the summer. I always leave at least one cup on the waterer in the winter for those warmer days. When it thaws my chickens enjoy a nice warm drink when it's cold outside. This device has finally set my mind at ease when it comes to water warmers and deicers. I know my chickens will have good clean water and there is nothing in the bucket to contaminate it. I most highly recommend this product to any poultry keeper it is well worth the price for peace of mind and healthy chickens.

This product is great! Living in the cold Midwest a heated waterer is a must have. Mine quit working this year so I attempted to use a fish tank heater in one. One of my birds decided to roost on it, knocking it over and ultimately the heater ended up melting the waterer. Making both the water container and the heater useless. Plus making me extremely nervous to use that set up again. This product relieved my anxiety. It has worked like a dream. I attached it to a Kitty litter bucket with cups. The cups stay warm enough to be usable and not freeze. I HIGHLY recommend this heater!!

This is effective with the water reservoir that came with the product. However, we haven’t had the bitterly cold weather that usually comes in January either. It’s simple to assemble and per instructions can be used on a 5 gallon bucket. I haven’t tried the five gallon bucket option.

Works great on my chickens water buckets. It took about an hour to completely melt about 2 inches of ice on top of water. I would definitely get more. It fits around a 5 gallon bucket. We use rubber grain tubs for water in the winter since they are flexible, helps break ice.
Money well spent

I put the heater belt onto the 5-gallon bucket and within a couple hours the water was thawed and chickens were happy! Fits standard 5-gallon bucket well. Well-made and I expect it to make it through several winter seasons.
